I ran and served on the school board because I was concerned with scores in some of the schools. Live Oak is a pretty good school considering we are in Texas which somewhat lags the nation in education. There is a fair amount of turnover most of the teachers are caring and helpful. My son went through the schools here and recently graduated from UT and will be going to law school. A child can get a good education here.

This campus has much to be desired in academic achievement and administration. They spend too much time and energy on things that are not related to student achievement.

I have a child at another school in the area and I go to Live Oak each week as a mentor for a student in 1st grade. One thing I definitely notice about this school is the teachers yell a lot...nearly all the time...and no one seems to mind...being a teacher takes a high level of patience which these educators are certainly lacking in. Additionally, I think it is the wrong idea to have televisions in the lunch room for kids to watch while they are eating...what kind of habit is this to teach a child??

This school needs to work on every area and stop making excuses. Because it is the only elementary school in town with these grades, they get away with anything.

This is the worst school I have ever encountered. The staff is lazy and uncommitted to the children's education. They openly state that they have no parent involvement and use this as an excuse to be ineffective in communication and operations. They do not attempt to engage parents or make parents feel welcome to participate within the school. They do not make decisions that are in the best interest of the children. They simply do the minimum that the state requires to keep the doors open and nothing more. I am very disappointed in this place. There is no consistency and teachers are not held accountable

This school is the best, the teachers work hard to make each child succeed. I am in the classroom a lot involved in my child's education. I have seen these teachers become a counselor, nurse, parent, educator, and friend to these kids. My child was in first grade last year and he had a great teacher. I am excited about his teacher this year.

This school is a 3 for a reason. I am a very involved parent and when it comes to my children's education I have high expectations. It's really sad that the majority (not all) of the parents in this community are just happy to send their kids off to "free daycare" so they don't have to deal with them personally. There should be higher standards in place to require parental involvement rather than lower standards to accommodate a lazy community. There should be structure and discipline, consequences and rewards not just chaos. All teachers should be held to the same standards and there needs to be accountability to ensure this. Overall this school is really sad and the worst part is that the parents don't care about what is really going on during the day or how much their kids are really missing out on. They are just happy to be ignorant and praise their child's teacher without really caring how this school stacks up against others. Having a teacher that is "friendly" just doesn't cut it.

This school is really great. The teachers, the programs, the people make it fun and keep teaching interesting for the students.

I am a parent of a 3rd grader here at this school. My son's teachers are the best in the world and I wish he could have them all the way through his schooling. The teachers take the time to really try to help your child achieve their full potential. Even the special education teachers and the principal and counselors make sure your child doesn't fall through the cracks!
