I just graduated from RHS and now at UTPA. As far as the education goes RHS is okay. Many of the teachers are certified and they have become more strict on who they hire. School violence is extremely rare. We would have like one at most (rare) two fights a semester. I thought that was a lot but after talking to other students in mcallen or other schools they would have monthly fights. The sports and music programs are all fun and good but i think what this school is really lacking is money and an open mind. Some of this faculty, (the principal) are dinosaurs. There are way to many restrictions and rules its not a good environment for kids to express their individuality and self confidence. They need to have classes that think outside the box. As far as money goes there's just not enough. More money means more classes, better teachers, more programs, and more spirit. Unfortunately money is one of those things you cant really fix since its based on taxes really. I think this school has gotten better and will continue to get better.

I graduated from RHS and believe me it is not a GOOD school at all. As I am reading the previous reviews I notice that a lot of the students are lacking in their grammar and spelling skills. Yes, RHS might have good sports programs and a good band, but what about Spelling and Grammar? Students will never survive at a University or College with poor communication skills. RHS needs to step it up and hire more qualified teachers.

awesome band the best ever i have to say good in many things but needs more certified teachers because that is the reason that students who go to this school are not prepared at all for college its like you have learned nothing in the whole 4 yrs your there!!!! would be a very good school if teachers would have more experience and knowledge!!!!!

I`m a former student at rhs and its the best! i`m just a junior an i`ve experanced so many things like the basketball team (varsity) is the best both girls&boys but so many people look at the negative stuff and thats wat we students get upset because we`re advanceing in academics but decreaseing in self-confidence because these people are letting us done!! but realy rhs is the best school for music, sports, and & being part of family with passion and live! once a gladitor always a galditor!! y que viva roma! its also a bilingual school! :-)<3

I agree this school is not one of the best around, one its very hard to go to a university because when one takes the ACT half of the stuff that we are supposed to be learning is not there. Once you are a senior you are like forgotten, one has 3 classes and thats it; its up to you wheater to go out early or take dual-enrollment classes. There are tons of restrictions in this school and not tons of freedom to expand your ideas, you have to be like 'the cousin or something of a teacher' so that you can get permission to open a club or sell anything for a club. I'm a senior, and I dont really want to finish school because I feel that im not ready to go to a university or college.

Roma High School is the best! The sports program is really strong, especially the soccer program that is going to go to the playoffs this year. This includes the boys and the girls soccer team.

I am a former student of RHS, now currently a graduat of the University of Texas-Austin. I had a good time being a student at RHS but when I got to college, I learned that I hadn't learned anything in my high school compared to what my peers had learned; and that's because I was one of the top students in my school's history. I had the typical small town high school experience and a lot of fun at RHS but it's not a good school if you want your child to go to a top notch university. I credit my success to my mentor at UT and the professors that helped catch up with the competitive education quality of my peers around the country and world.

Roma High School has progressed tremendously, the band is a very impressive program. Most importanly the overall education program has increased druing the past few years. I like to mention that the sports program has taken competitive sports into better level of competition. This includes the basketball team, swimming team, tennis team, soccer team, and many more teams. Roma High School is only gonna get better and bigger with more schools in the future. We have seen the remarkable changes done in Roma ISD. New facilities have made this school amazingly second to none as far as education in roma goes. Thanks to roma's educational people In the distric.
