This school has been wonderful, I have a child in special Ed and two in the regular classroom, all have had a great year! My child has been given every service he needs and I didn't have to fight for it! Parent involvement is encouraged and I love spending time in the classrooms helping! We love it here!
I love this school! For years I put my children in other schools because of the ratings this school got on here - we had to put our kids in this school this year because we could no longer afford the gas and tuition of the other school, they have been here all year and we love their teachers! My son is in the special ed program here and they have been nothing but helpful, they really care about their students, and they really want them to succeed. This is the first year I didn't have to go through miles of red tape in order for my son to get the help he needed - they jumped right on board. They have great teachers- absolute GEMS! 5 stars - I only wish I didn't throw our money away these last few years driving all the way to another school.
I have two daughters who attend this school and both teachers have been great! Both teachers have a established a good line of communication and have been attentive to our daughters development. The office staff are always helpful and positive. This school is always coming up with ways to get the children to read more!
I have two children that go to Double file trail and I am not impressed. The pace at which the students are taught is not at all what I expected. When my child started kindergarten she was expected to know everything on a first grade level. The basics were not taught and considered something that the student should already know coming in. I was under the impression that kindergarten is where the basics are supposed to be taught. I have noticed that some students who were here last year, did not return this year. And yes, they do tend to make you feel like your not helping your child succeed enough. I am definately displeased and am looking for another school to send my children too. When you speak up about something that you don't agree with, your child is blacklisted and treated badly later. not a high rated school.
Abby Duffy is precious and truly loves the children - she's the principal. My only complaint would be the assistant principal. She'll rub you the wrong way. But she and Duffy were longtime friends and I suspect that's why she's got the job. For the most part the teachers are kind and loving. You'll hit one or two along the way that will make you wonder how they ever got into a job that involves children... but it's only a couple. It's rated exemplary - probably b/c they re-zoned the school district. But all in all, it's worth planting your kids in for their entire elementary education. Now my kid is in 5th, it's our last year. We'll miss it.
The speech therapist & PPCD teachers, staff are amazing at this school. However both are leaving after this school year. You do have to be a pro active at this schoool. I think you should be that way at ANY school. Also Mrs. Duffy has always been very promt and helpful in dealing with any issues. Parents are welcomed in this schoool.
I adore this school, and my daughter is very happy and learning an amazing amount. Her teachers have all been great. She is in the TAG program (talented and gifted) and her teachers have always paid special attention to her and given her what she needed to thrive. I could not agree less that the education of the kids is up to the parents at this school. The parent needs to be involved, yes, but it's YOUR kid, so you'd think that would be a given. I think the teachers bend over backwards for parents that show some interest. They have a running club, an after school science lab class, afterschool dance, a math club, and several other extracurriculars available. The PTA is very active as well, sponsoring family camping nights, and skating nights, and lots of other fun programs. We are extremely happy here.
My daughters have been attending this school 4 months now, and we LOVE it. They have learned so much, their teachers genuinely care about them, and there are so many extracurriculars available to them. The PTA is really growing, and doing some great things this year. I am grateful daily that we moved here!
some of the teachers are quite exceptional, but there isn't consistancy and the staff is all over the place. The education of the kids is basically up to the parents and if the kid isn't doing well then the blame is put on the parents instead of the teacher's creating a plan to improve the performance. Poor communication and lack of school responsibility in the education process makes this school one of the lowest in the Round Rock District.
My child has attended this school for 2 years and it has been a wonderful experience. The teachers are great and his learning has progressed greatly. This is a very good school.
