My son went to the school and i went to pick him up the after school teacher told me they had trouble with my son another teacher put there hands on my 6 years old child to pull him out from under a seat why other kids has taken his stuff i would never let any of my friends and family ever go back.
Do not let your child attend Whistle Stop Station in Rowlett ! They don't genuinely care about your kids all they are concerned about is collecting a payment every week! The so called "teachers" are the children of the older people who work there. The "teachers" are childish and will argue with your child! Not only will they argue with your child but also threaten to throw them out! The front office is a joke! They never fairly resolve any issues! The school smells horrible like dirty diapers every single day! They have a wonderful big gym but that's all the kids do is play! The "teachers" are so young they don't know much more than the children that attend! There are normally about 50 kids in the summer to two "teachers"! Save your time and money , don't let your child/children attend Whistle Stop!
If your parents do not work there or your not the people in the office favorite ... no one cares about you . My daughter was being bullied I went had a talk with the front office & was pretty much told "oh well, kids will be kids"
The "teachers" at this school are literally teenagers. Around 2009 whistle stop was described as a private school bc certified teachers actually worked there. Recently had to change their name back to daycare bc there are no certified teachers in that building. Even the people in the front office don't know how to deal with children. But they pretend to be great caregivers very well.. including the owners son. Watch out, they will threaten your child!
They have a sign up sheet if you would like them to assist with homework. However, when the kids get in from school no one EVER even mentions homework. The kids have a snack then go straight outside to play.
I would drive by The Whistle Stop on my way to work (Hickox location) and would think to myself what a gorgeous pre-school; no way can I afford it. Normally childcare and affordable do not belong in the same sentence. Besides being incredibly affordable and gorgeous, TWS has a very caring environment. The teachers and administrative staff are friendly and salute every single person that comes through the door. The teaching staff has been great with my girls. My oldest was fully potty trained within a week of starting at her new school. You can tell the teachers truly care about their students; I love the friendliness upon pick up. The teachers openly discuss my childs day, as a working mother I miss out on a lot and want to know what happened throughout their day. Now I know this might not be a big deal to some, but I absolutely love how much detail and though the teachers but into the special holiday crafts they send home for you. The school also takes the time to plan themed days multiple times a week, which gets the kids really excited. I could probably write an essay on how much I love this school and why I think you should consider it.
My son went to Whistle Stop (Hickox) from 15 mo old until he started Kindergarten this year. Unfortunately his school is not in Rowlett and he had to change from WS. However, he has requested to return to Whistle Stop over the summer b/c he loves it so much. We cannot say enough good things abt the school and staff.
The school is wonderful, my daughter has gone there for almost 2 years now and the teachers are great. The only downfall is they just raised there rates and they are quite pricey. We had to move because of the rate increase. If they went back and didn't raise the rate she would still be there.
