My son started here in 1st grade and has had amazing teachers that work with him to make him not only a better student but a better person. Wonderful teachers!
My son has gone to Steadham for 4 years now and the school has just gone down hill. There was such a turnover last year and the principle doesn't seem to be in the swing of things. I had an incident with my son this year and i had to deal with the Assistant Principal who was Awesome. Never once did the principal step in or say anything.
I have 3 children. All with different levels of intelligence and different learning abilities. Steadham has been attentive to the needs of my average child. Not as attentive to the needs of the more gifted children. That would be my only complaint. The office staff is very busy. I agree with the parent that posted below. One more thing..being familiar with my children and the teachers at the school, I would like for the principal to be more open to requests by the parents for certain teachers. I feel that an ATTENTIVE parent knows best. Overall, GREAT school, GREAT teachers and staff.
This is an awesome school! There is not a lot of turn over in this school and many of the teachers are part of the original staff that opened the school. Reading some of the comments about the office staff is so disturbing as I have never had a problem with this staff. Always accomodating and caring. It would appear to me that some of the complaints regarding the staff are probably from someone who didn't feel the rules applied to them. Office staff have a huge job in keeping 600-800 kids and 60-70 staff memebers safe. You can imagine how difficult it would be to make that many parents and visitors follow the rules. There are always those that feel the rules just don't apply to them. I say hooray for Steadham's staff and anyone that is lucky enough to get into this school.
Steadham is a decent school. I have not been overly impressed with the office staff, but some of the teachers are incredible. Had a bad experience with one teacher and found that I should have demanded that my child be moved. Once my child was moved, grades improved. The new teacher liked being there, and it showed in her classroom. The traffic situation was terrible in 2005-06, but I'm hoping it'll improve with the road construction. Overall, I still think it's a good school. If I can afford it, I'll eventually move my kid to a private school to take advantage of the lower student/teacher ratio.
My children have problems with speech and my daughter has problems with math and it seems like we have to fight really hard to get them any help. For the most part, the teachers who teach my kids are really nice and go out their way to help them. Some of the teachers though talk down to the children from what I have noticed just by visiting the school during the school day. I think I would rather have my kids go to another school. The PTA is really involved and wants to help out. For the most part, the principal is nice. Wasn't too helpful in the area of my children being new to the school and never took the TAKS test before and held my child back. There are some really good teachers esp. in the science department who loves to teach science and it shows with my kids.
I spent alot of time doing research, before moving my kids from private to public school. This is an awesome school. The teachers are great and the staff is loving and supportive. The principal has always been available for me to talk to. She was so sweet to ease my fears about public school. The test scores are great and I love the classroom reading, science and math take home activities the second graders are doing. You can feel safe with Steadham as your choice.
Many of the children are not what I had in mind for my kids as far as friends. I have decided to home school until we can move and get away from such a low-quality school. I also see that their rating has gone down to acceptable.
As a mother of twins at Steadham Elementary, I was recently asked what teacher I recommended for a certain grade level. I was able to honestly say that I didn't think there was one I could recommend over another because every single teacher in that grade level is awesome. There is not a teacher I have met at the school that doesn't put the children first. My children love their classes, their teachers, and they look forward to coming to school every day.
Steadham Elementary is an awesome place to learn. The teachers and administrators go the extra mile to make sure that each child learns to the best of his/her ability. I'm proud to have Steadham in our area. We would not be in Rowlett if it were not for the relationships we have formed and the academic excellence expected and received with the students at Steadham. We stay here for all of the wonderful things going on in our school. It's a great place to be!
My grandson has gone to steadham for 4 years. it is a great school. The teachers are very caring and supportive of the students. The office staff is exceptional. They have a strong PTA which is very involved and supportive of teachers and the school. The test scores have been consistenly high and have had Recognized scores in the past. I am very pleased with the school.
Steadham is a great neighborhood school! The teachers and staff are all friendly and very helpful. I've observed lots of parental involvement. Steadham encourages parent volunteers. We are very thankful to be a part of a close knit school. As far as extracurricular activites I feel that is my job not the school's job!
My child has a learning disability and the school was not helping him like I think they should have been. I had to push the issue and push the issue to have him tested. He is doing alot better now with reading but I feel like the teachers at this school should help the students a little more.
My son attended this school the 1st half of the year. With a learning disability, he received very little help and had very little work sent home to help him move forward. I was very disappointed with this school.
I have 3 children at Steadham and I have been very happy with the school. The teachers have a genuine concern for the child. One teacher in particular has made science a really cool subject. I think it is great to see my child excited for science. The principal is very involved and has really made the school a joy to send my kids to.
This is a good general school. The teachers keep you informed of what is going on. They offer a high level of parent involment in the class room. They keep homework down to a minium.
