This school is the worst school any of my kids has attended. My child was repeatedly bullied from the beginning of school and she reported it to her math and science teacher several times, obviously trembling and crying. I didn't find out about the bullying until after she was under the care of a psychiatrist for anxiety and depression. The teachers never reported it or notified me. They continued to send her back to class with nothing being done. My daughter finally quit reporting it cause when the kids continued to get away with it they got their friends to join in on the harrassment. The school administration will give you every excuse in the book on why they did nothing about it. I was even told by the vice principal that they usually don't do anything until it becomes physical. WTH??? I had to call the school board in order to get an appointment with the principal to discuss the problem. Prior experience with this principal has been that after she listens to your complaint, she changes the subject. Bullying at this school is way out of hand and the teachers just don't want to be bothered. Be aware: there are federal and state laws that state that parents are to be notified.

Being in the military and moving from city to city often with several children, I make it a point to research the schools in the area. Decided to go with Luna and Brennan. Luna is an above average academic school and the teachers are very friendly. My son is getting straight As since transferring to this school which he has never done prior! I have asked my son about bullying in the school and he doesn't some to think there is serious bullying going on. Overall this is a good school and I am happy with my son's education and experience there so far.

This is the worst school any of my 3 children have attended. The principal seems to think that she is running a dictatorship. Seriously, my straight A, GT son, who has never been in trouble at school, was sent to ISS for losing his hall pass one day. The principal says that although she personally escorted my son to the ISS room, that he was not actually suspended because they did not fill out the ISS paperwork. Please share your feedback with the main office at NISD. We will never have a decent principal until people become vocal.

This is a great school. The teachers are reliable, and they want you to suceed. I was a student a Luna Middle School for two years, and those two years have been by far one of the best experiences of my life. I was a regular student in 7th grade, but by the time registration came my teachers had recommended me for Honors. They want you to have the best options, they keep you informed. And their lessons are easy. The dress code is not that bad, while it is strict. This school is wonderful, and if I could I would go back in a heartbeat. I love this school, and everyone else with it. The enviroment is welcoming, you'd be lucky to go to this school.

This school is not the best school I've ever been to they don't care if you have ADD they just trat you like another 'longhorn' hence cattle. Some of the teachers are very rude and sarcastic while otthers don't know when to put there foot down and say 'no' they are very sexist my male friend got punished for wearing a sachel in class while girls are aloud to wear big purses and bags the dress code is just stupid and full if oxymorons such as 'baggy or sagged pants are not permited' and the rule against suspenders. The teachers and administration all have favorites and students they don't lik. Over all it's not a place I enjoy learning.

We have been very pleased with this school. We send our kids to school to get an education not a fashion show. Luna provides many tools to help students do the best they can. Our daughter struggles with school but Luna has many provisions which have proved very helpful, such as free before and after school tutoring, free use of educational web sites, sample testing to help them with the TAKS test, as well as good teacher communication. She is now an A-B honor role student. We have also personally experienced the reasonable nature of the administration. They have taken our daughters circumstances into account and acted accordingly. We are very pleased with this school. Don't let cranky parents mislead you. This is a very good school and we believe they are doing an excellent job. You can't please everyone.

I agree with a few of the other reviews. They do have bully problems here that are not handled well by the administration. The students ARE treated as cattle. The teachers just don't have the time to give to the students. My son has ADD and it has been difficult at times. Students are not permitted to carry backpacks during school. ADD kids need to be able to keep everything in one place but the school does not take that into consideration. The dress code is ridiculous!!! Students are not permitted to wear ripped clothing (which I agree with) but, when my daughter fell and skinned a dime-sized hole in her jeans, they made me bring her a new pair or she would have to sit in office for the remainder of the day. NO COMMON SENSE

Very good school. I came here from Germany 3 years ago with two kids. I have one kid that started in the 6th grade at Luna and another that is currently in the 7th. I have found the teachers to be very reliable and they are quick to inform parents when there may be a potential problem with the students. I am very happy that the school keeps my children challenged. They have both participated in the schools honor program. My oldest was accepted to 3 of the 4 magnet schools he applied for and is currently in his first year at John Jay High. I partially contribute this to the professionalism of the educator's staff at Luna Middle School. My only draw back is that I haven't seen any bumper stickers for proud students from Luna Middle. I highly recommend this school and I am an extremely satisfied parent.

As a parent, I would not recommend this school to anyone. There is not any type of communication and it is just like another reviewer said, the kids are like cattle and they herd them in and out. The administration does not have respect for the kids nor the parents alike. I will say I have been pleased with some of my child's teachers. Fortunately, my child will do well, as academically is an A-B honor roll student. MAYBE IF THE ADMIN WOULD START PAYING ATTN to the kids and parents, they would not have an 'academically acceptable rating'. These people must hate their jobs as this is how their attitude comes through to most of us.

continued.... At Luna, be prepared for your child to be 'cubby-holed'. They are not treated as individuals....more like cattle. Since we came to Luna from another school district one of my daughter's was not allowed to take Pre-Algebra for 6th grade because she had not been in an NISD school for 5th grade when kids were tested. There were no waivers for this! At first I applauded Luna's 'no shorts' dress code policy until my daughter wore gaucho pants to school one day that were two inches below the knee. I was asked to bring her something else to wear. (Girls may wear skirts of any length at Luna) At other schools the policy is generally that the pants/skirts/shorts should come at or below the child's fingertips when standing straight and with hands at their side....this guideline makes more sense but alas Luna MS does not know the meaning of common sense.
