Harmony is a expanding school. It still needs work here in there but overall it's a great school really. Harmony has great teachers and counselors that really care , even if you or your kid doesn't. There really personal able, and the DPS point system is great because kids get tried of it after while and it hones them to being good.

We sent our son to this school after being pulled out in his 1st grade at JISD school. At JISD they did nothing to help him socially or Spec ED. They didn't want to deal with his Spec Ed side. We decided to home schooled the rest of 1st grade. He wanted to go back to school for 2nd grade, 2012. The school was amazing from the start. We didn't want to mess with Spec Ed & they changed our minds. They took the time to test and understand what he needed. He had the most amazing teacher. She was dedicated & understanding. She would stay after school w/ him to tutor in ways that was fun not just academically. He did receive DPS and PRS points which were a way for our son to know if he did x, y, or z he would receive this or that. Great for him. The staff at the school has been nothing but nice & helpful. The school lunches don't taste very good from what my son says but he loves the breakfast. The teacher looked out for what is in his best interest. For 3rd grade she requested a teacher that he would do well with him. We are more than happy. Just wish the website was more informative like some of the other schools within Harmony. My son wishes they had robotics program.

My four children have attended this school for two years and we are completely satisfied with our choice to move them here. The only complaint I have is that I hear from my children, and their friends, that other children (it's usually the same one or two) are disruptive in class and interrupt the learning process. The system is set up so that students receive DPS points for bad behavior and PRS points for good behavior. There are rewards for students who keep their DPS points low and/or have more PRS points than DPS, as well as rewards for children who do well on the STAAR exams. As long as the children are behaving as they should and concentrating on their studies there should be absolutely no fear of the DPS points, especially since PRS points for good behavior are given often. The points are kept UTD on your child's school webpage so it's easy for a parent to keep track and see when behavior issues need to be addressed. I appreciate the teachers who stay after school and come in on weekends to tutor. I also like that they split the older grades up into enrichment classes during school, so the students get the help and attention they need in areas where they are struggling.

While I commend HSISA for it's curriculum and policies on paper, it lacks severely in follow-through. I have three children of different grades in HSISA, and most of the teachers are great at staying after school to help students with their understanding fo topics taught in class. However, if a child has underlying issues with other students, such as being bullied, they do NOTHING. My son is being bullied daily, in every class period, by the same kids. We have contacted the superintendant of Harmony Schools regarding this issue, and the fact that the school administration just gives us the deer in the headlights look every time we bring it up. The superintendant has yet to reply and it has been over a month! My son's grades are in a downward spiral, and he calls home nearly EVERY WEEK because he just can't take it anymore! I want to move my child to another school, but alraedy 3/4 of the way through the school year, and being military getting ready to move at the start of summer anyway, I don't feel I should have to move my child out of the school. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS SCHOOL if you want fair and equitable treatment of all students!

I am a former parent of HSI.Due to a job offer in another Texas city we had to leave San Antonio.I was very pleased with HISA teacher's friendly approach and dedication for my son and all children.On Saturdays teachers are coming to school and having individual studies to improve students' academic level.School administration is available to listen to the parents' concerns or suggestions. I think HSISA is great school!

This school works on a point value system for behavior. My son suffers from ADHD and was asked to leave the school instead of expelling him because of the number of points he accumulated. I asked for a couple of years to have him placed in a program, I believe it is the 504, to help him academically which in turn may help with the behavior. Instead, its pack your bags because "we dont have the resources to help him." In my opinion this school failed him and LEFT A CHILD BEHIND. I understand the frustration that comes alone with being a teacher and having to deal with this issue, but when you make a choice, you choose it all and every child that walks through the door isn't going to be perfect. That is something to consider before becoming an EDUCATOR and giving up on a child.

In 2012-2013, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was used to test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in science in grades 5 and 8; in social studies in grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, II, and II, Algebra I and II, biology and US History. STAAR is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

The different student groups are identified by the Texas Education Agency; if there are a small number of students in a particular group, the state doesn't report data for that group.
