The principal (Derrick Brown) does not care about the kids or the staff. He has forced 9 staff members to quit/transfer/retire since his arrival. What did it cost an already underfunded, underperforming school to have to recruit, hire and train all those replacements due to one mans toxic leadership? He makes kids who get in trouble sit in the front office all day with out having to do any work or learn. Douglass used to have great leaders who genuinely loved teaching and the students alike, and they used to be a TEA recognized school. Now they are unacceptable by TEA standards and have not met federal standards.

Love it, the teachers are awesome, friendly and care about the students. Very small compared to most schools, I love it may not work for everyone. Mrs Gonzales, Ms Avalos, Mrs Mendoza are a charm ! Very happy with enrolling our 4 students here. They do lots of activities, principal truly cares. Neighborhood is questionable but school is wonderful.

school needs fine arts and more parent- teacher involvment. some teachers lack teaching skills for at-risk children.
