This is a terrible school. How can this school advertize on newspapers that they welcome children with special needs when they don't have materiels to work with them? The school has a big dicipline problem.
I enrolled my child this year in Pre-K3 and so far I like the results I am seeing. He comes home and tells us what he did in school that day. He likes to go to school. I think that for a child to have success in school the parents have to be very much involved. My child has excellent teachers and will continue to attend Escuela De Las Americas.
I enrolled my child there thinking it had a quality bilingual program. It does not because for years the school did not hire certified teachers, let alone bilingual certified teachers. There is no continuity as the entire staff is changed every year either because they seek greener pastures or because they were not qualified personnel. I have learned that until very recently, the school lacked a campuswide social skills program. The good teachers leave every year, the school has no specials, no counselers, and it more seems like it only serves the porpose of promoting the MAUC as this agenda-making Hispanic political organization.
Althought the student teacher ratio is low, if your child is not a spanish speaking child they could get lost. Since I have put my child in a new school she has thrived and has a new interest in school again.
I have 2 children attending La Escuela, 1 returning from last year. It is my opinion that the Prek3 and Prk4 program and teachers are excellent! My children love to go to this school! There are many interesting extra activities that the children are involved in and exposed to. There is alot of parent involvement and that is a major key to a child's success in school. My children have thrived while attending La Escuela, especially my 5 yr old who has a slight speech impediment. Mrs. Coble and Mrs. Ponce (my sons teachers) have shown great interest and true committment to my children. I am very pleased and my children will continue attending La Escuela.
