I live in a spacious home in a good school district. We are a middle-class family who wants our children to go to a school that is demographically equal. We don't want our children to be a minority, in other words. Where is the best place to get the spacious home at around $140,000 and still be in a decent neighborhood/school district.
Well, in order to not be the minority it depends on what YOU are. San Antonio is hugely hispanic. It seems the further you go NW or NOrth and farthest edge of town or just outside has a little more equal, about 45% hispanic, 45% caucasian (we're in Northside School District). Further towards center of town the schools become 60% hispanic or more. There is a small african American and Asian population, so not much home for equality there. I know ther are lots of neighborhoods near 1604 on the NW side that you can get a big 2 story house for $140 and under. Good luck76877
I would suggest that you look at the Alamo Ranch area in NW San Antonio. It offers newer homes in that price range with lots of community amenities. It is serviced by the Northside School District which has a good reputation. Also take a look at the Stone Oak/Cibalo Canyons areas. Homes cost more but the schools are new and highly rated. Just north of Stone Oak (Timberwood/Canyon Springs) homes are a bit less and are serviced by Comal County which also has a good reputation. 77089
