SVMS is a great school. Myh kids also attended Spring Branch last year and I was very worried on how the kids would adjust and how the school staff would be compared to SBMS. We moved into the area because of the school ratings, and choose to live in the SBMS district because of the high marks the school had. Because of the district change the kids now attend SVMS, and I could not be happier. I have not met 1 member of the staff that has not gone out of their way for the children, or the 'hand on' parent that I tend to be. On a scale of 1 - 10 I would give SVMS a 15. I can only hope the high school is half as good.

My son just moved from Spring Branch Middle school to Smithson Valley Middle School due to district line changes. We were first very concerned, but this school has made some significant changes. The Principal and his staff are excellent and run a very tight ship. They work hard to teach the kids to respect themselves and the school and be 'the best and the brightest'. Even though the school did not make a recognized rating this year, the overall performance was best of any middle school in the district. You have to read the details behind the TAKS test to see this. The ratings can change with only 2 or 3 students not performing. If you are moving into the area, do your research. I think you will find the same as we have, this school is excellent and only getting better!

This school goes the extra mile to help our son with his difficulty in math and reading. Teachers frequently volunteer to tutor him after school hours when I know they could choose to say nothing. It's obvious that they care we are so happy that our son has attended this school. Highly recommend! Principals know our son on a first name basis... and it's not because he's in trouble... it's because they care!

My son has been in several different schools, public and private in the last few years. This is the only school that he has ever done well at. The leadership of Mr. Fuller is the best I have seen yet, the teachers care and are down to earth. I give this school five stars!

SVMS has made amazing progress in the last year. As a parent, I am thrilled with the principal and the teaching staff. The school has a wonderful academic environment. It is a safe school that our kids enjoying being a part of. I was shocked at the low rating. But as I said, it has come a long way in the last year. We are very happy to be a part of the Smithson Valley Middle School family.

They treat the kids like incompetent idiots and give them the answers to everything. That is not teaching it is enabling. The teachers pass the kids even if they do not deserve to pass. The teachers are afraid to teach and kids fail high school. It was a terrible waste of my child's capable intelligence to send her to svms. Kindergarten was more educational.
