This school has been a dissapointment. Although the test scores might be great, the atmosphere is not. The principal is not professional nor welcoming and neither is the office staff. They are rude. Many times I have overheard the office staff gossiping with one another or about other parents. They are not welcoming to parents participation which in my opinion can really make a good school great. I'm hoping to switch schools before my youngest enters kinder.
While this school has good test scores, that is only part of the story. This school has an atmosphere of fear. My child cries everyday about going here, and we have been in 5 elementary schools. This school has a clip system, where the kids clip up and down all day long. They also frequently have recess taken away. Sometimes they spend recess catching up on work, and other times they just sit out. Most of the teachers are good and the curriculmn is hard. My child has homework every night and a computer program to complete 7 days a week. Rumors abound about the principal setting the tone there. I feel that I did my child a huge disservice by sending him there. It is a nice area, but you should look into other schools if you are moving to this area.
Great school with poor principal. Assistant p is much more involved with students. Maybe her role is to be more administrative? I remember my assistant principals more than the principals. I appreciate that teachers aren't overly easy and nice to the younger grades. PTO has some issues.
I try to refrain from posting my opinions from simple emotions. I believe rationality and observation outside of emotions gives a proper assessment. I rated Brazos Bend Elementary School below average for varies reasons. A school is made up of a leader and students. In a leadership role such as a Principal role, you play the 3rd biggest role in a child's life. To a child, a principal is the head boss, the one you look up to beyond your teacher. On a few occasions, I have overheard the Principal, Mrs. Croucher yelling with a punitive tone to the children in t
This is our 3rd year at Brazos Bend and we have been very dissatisfied. We've moved a great deal and this was our older son's 5th elementary school so we have a lot to compare it to. The school reminds us of military school and while we have been happy with the quality of instruction, we do not like the overall atmosphere at the school. Safety is a huge issue here as well. On my children's first day of school they sent my twin first graders out the wrong door, crossed them to the other side of the street and sent them walking the wrong way! For 30 minutes, we couldn't find them and it turned out a parent picked them up in their car and drove them back. This was terribly traumatic for me and my children and didn't exactly make a good first impression. Not happy with the leadership
My daughter just finished her Kindergarten year. I was very happy with the overall learning etc. The only concern I had was that I had to keep reminding the teacher to work with my child at the child's level. I guess this would apply to all public schools where one on one attention is hard to come by. The teacher was awesome though and the fact that each morning my child goes to school with a smile on her face tells me something. My younger daughter will also be starting KG in the fall this year...and I hope her experience is as wonderful as that of my older one!
i love that school i also subtitute in other schools of sugarland but i found this is the best school if i compare to other school teachers are nice, vice principle is awsome more involved with parents and teahers.
We are so pleased with this school so far. My son spent a year at another Exemplary elementary school in New Territory, and we like Brazos Bend so much better. The staff are friendly, the teachers we have met are experienced and caring, and the academics seem just the right balance of challenging but with support for the children. Also, the building itself is clean and light and bright and cheerful...my son seems to respond well to the pleasant vibe of the place. Thumbs up!
This is an excellent school. After doing months of research on local schools before moving and selecting a home, I must say that my hard work paid off. Although the curriculum is quite rigorous and the principal is more of a politician/warden, the teachers and environment are wonderful.
Really good school. We have been here a year and my son likes it very much. Teachers are Great and caring, but Principal is just okay. Not very open in discussion. Otherwise, good academic achievement and rating. Safety is okay. Could be better. ESL and reading teachers are very good. Music and Physical Ed class is good too. Is cafeteria food bad everywhere?
