Bullying allowed, especially on special needs children. Principal does not follow through on his own solutions to problems. Teachers play favorites, discipline is not uniformly enforced. Lack of lockers and homework equals lack of student responsibilty. There are a few excellent teachers in this school, however they are overshadowed by the sub-standard majority.

SMS has the incredibly difficult task of educating kids going through the most difficult transition phase of their lives- adolecence! The teachers at SMS do a fantastic job of teaching the curriculum as well as trying their best to be the parents that many of these kids don't have at home! Anyone making negative comments about Sweetwater Middle School needs to walk a mile in the shoes of the teachers there and realize how tremendous their love for the kids truly is!

I feel that an overwhelming majority of teachers at the school forgot what it means to be a teacher. To teach, is to help learn...Help reach goals...To help students gain knowledge... To lead the student into a love of learning. But all too many times at this school we have had teachers (most not all)that seem to be against the kids. Some have made statements..'No one can make 100% in my class.' When in fact, shouldn't they be striving for each student to do just that? I am not suggesting that classes should be less challenging. But, the goal should be for every student to learn the material. When a teacher is making any student feel negative about school..Or diminishes the student's self confidence...I feel he/she is in the wrong profession...For wrong reasons. There are too many 'teachers' here that are not there for the students...To help and encourage their education.
