School has lots of tax money, the facilities look great, teachers are energetic, extra-curricular activities are solid. The overall atmosphere seems to be 'loose' at best when it comes to teaching the important life skills- punctuality, respect, effort, etc. The behavior of the students as a whole is poor. The system is 'too soft' on kids. IMO

I am a grandparent of 3 of the studentbody. living so far from Tatum (800 miles) It was a real treat for me, when I did visit the school last fall. Every thing that I observed , impressed me verry much. The goodlooking campus was surpassed only by the uplifting sperit and pride shown by the students and the faculty. My grandchildren are in great company and good hands. Thanks to youall.

Ap tests and classes are increditably important at this school. Football has won distict just about every year and has went to state for the past 2-3 years. Art and music have many different programs. Parent involvement is not as good as it should be. A quite respectable school. Principle won the Best Principle in East Texas award.

All 3 of my children attended and graduated from the Tatum school system. It has that small town school charm which I remember from when I attended school. Because of the small size, teachers were able to relate to and give each of my children the personal attention they needed. My daughter had a severe speech problem when she started kindergarten. We were told by a speech teacher from a nearby larger school district that she would never be able to be mainstreamed in school. Not only did she excel at Tatum, she was a member of the National Honor Society and is now attending college on a full scholarship.

The academic programs are wide and varied. There are excellent choices for each student level. The availability of music, art, sports and other extracurricular activities are great at Tatum High. The level of parent involvement for those parents who participate in their childrens life is terrific. I would like to see more parents make and take the time to proactively participate. Academically, the parent can monitor the student online through VSI; music, arts, sports and other extracurricular activities provide an mountain of opportunities for parent involvement. Our daughter has been in Tatum schools since kindergarten. We wouldn't have her anywhere else. We are extremely pleased with the academics, challenges and opportunities Tatum provides to the student.
