We only looked at homes in the Galatas Elementary area based on speaking with several families we knew who lived in the area. We had previously lived overseas and our children had only gone to a small, private school. We couldn't be more happy with both the teachers and the leadership. My son had the BEST 2nd grade teacher and 3rd grade is looking just as promising. So happy that we took the recommendations and moved to this area.

HORRIBLE MILITARY STYLE SCHOOL! If your child needs extra help with ANYTHING take your child somewhere else! Teachers don't have time are sesitivity to give care or help for children who need extra time doing assignments. They expect children to be mutes during lunch..are you kidding me? The only thing they really care about is keeping tests scores high so ratings and funding stay high. The school is old and has a cold feeling to it..not enough care integrated into learning..my child used to love school at his private school. We then switched to Galatas because we heard it is a great school. WRONG! Its ratings are only based on test scores..not the way the school is run or the environment of the school. I took my child out after a month and put him back in private. He is now happy again and loves school again. This school needs to focus on children and what enables them to learn, not tests! The only positive thing I have to say about the school is the parent involvement..but all schools in The Woodlands have this.

Wonderful school....the best elementary school in The Woodlands. I did my homework before we moved there and couldn't be happier that we bought our house in the Galatas zone. It's like getting a private education at a public school. We feel so lucky that our kids attended there. The icing on the cake...Marlene Lindsay, principal, was the 2011 Distinguished Elementary Principal of Texas. That says something!!!

We moved here mid-way through the school year, and Galatas could not have been more accomodating. My 2nd grader settled in very quickly, and my preschool was in Speech within a week of arrival (and has improved tremendously). I love that it is a smaller school but that will change in 2009 as it takes on 200 more students so we'll have to see what effect that has on this great school.

Excellent school. It's run like a well-oiled machine and parents who say 'it lacks warmth' are naive. The principal and staff and professional, dedicated and caring, what more can you ask for?

We chose our home based on the reputation of Galatas and we have not been disappointed. I was room mom our first year and often sat in awe of how smoothly this school ran. My children have attended school in 3 different countries, parochial, public and prep, but this is the first school they have attended where I feel like everyone works as a team. School is for the students, not for the parents and I applaud Mrs. Lindsay for having the courage to run her school according to the best interest of ALL the students. There is none better than Galatas.

I have been impressed since day one of kindergarten. My oldest son attends and will be in 3rd grade this year. Mrs. Lindsey is not cold, can you name another principle who tkes the time to learn every students name and know something about them? The rules are the same at every school. I feel extremely lucky that both of my children will attend this school.

Galatas Elementary is a wonderful school. Both my children attended from k-4, and received excellent care and educations. There are some truly gifted teachers there.
