School is very very old! Front office was remodeled ages ago and the Smell is really bad inside, like mildew. I stepped into an office and there were about three air fresheners on her desk. Teachers are very aggressive and are NOT nurturing at all. They make children come out end of day ready for parents by having them sit outside 102 degree weather and sit down on hot concrete. I think the Bush's would drop their jaws if they saw this going on......Remodel school, get rid of the older mean teachers and bring in YOUNG educated teachers that LOVE children and love to nurture and give positive influence.

Lacking in personal attention to kids. Principal dictates military atmosphere at school. At lunch kids must be silent for 5 min at begin, middle, & end of lunch;all while a teacher yells "if you make a sound you loose recess; if you're whispering I shouldn't hear you, etc" I was so stressed I couldn't eat. The Principal's focus= Exemplary School; therefore, all time, money, & energy is for TAKS. Above level kids sit bored doing repetitive work.Principal refused to stop a teacher bullying special needs child; a teacher yelling at children to the point of scaring them to tears and nightmares; non-educational videos used in excess to "fill" school days. Celebrate leaving Busch never dealing with Principal, Mrs. Mills again because their kids graduated. I was filled with dread and worry because I was starting again as 1 was leaving. I also know parents who began homeschooling because of Mrs. Mills.

After attending a private pre-school and kindergarten, we enrolled at Bush Elementary. This school offers an excellent curriculum and top notch leadership from the principal. There is above average parental involvement. Most of the teachers are caring. There is an awesome carnival in the spring. It is not, however, a perfect school. We have heard from more than one teacher, that "it is a public school and they don't have the time" to give personal attention to students. The PTA is a clique, and if you aren't in the group, you'll feel like an outsider at the meetings. There is a military atmosphere at lunch time, and the teachers can be heavy handed with the "red book," requiring children to sign for the tiniest of infractions. My son started there loving school and learning, and unfortunately, despises school now. If your child is an extreme rule follower who does not need individual attention, her or she will do well at this school.

This is simply an outstanding school and I can't say enough good things about it. We moved here in the middle of the school year and the teachers and students were so welcoming to my daughter. It made the transition so much more pleasant. The next year the "baby" of the family started kindergarden and he and I had a really hard time with it. :) We were able to survive because of the endless patience and compassion of his awesome teacher! The parental involvement is outstanding and really makes a difference for the kids. I could go on forever, but the bottom line is the school is a gem! We will miss you terribly Mrs. Reyna and a huge thank you to you, Mrs. Lawler and Mrs. Bryant.

We are a Military family and move every couple years. And I can honestly say that this school was the BEST I have even been a part of. I am very thankful that we were able to have 2 years there and I know that it made a huge impact on my daughter. Thank you to Mrs.Fentress & Mrs. Reyna....WE MISS YOU!!!

We've been at Bush for 4 years this year and it's been mostly a great experience for my children and our family. The teachers are phenomenal and parents are encouraged to volunteer.

We transferred to Bush when from a neighboring district 1 1/2 years ago. We highly recommend the school. The janitors, nurse, teachers, bus drivers, and people who work in the front office display professional, kind, caring, attitudes. My child actually enjoys going to school and learning now. I was impressed when my child was given extra help from a former teacher to prepare for the TAKS test (met in a small group twice weekly during school hours) Parental support is phenomenal. They do not bombard you with fundraisers. Art, keyboarding, and music program excellent. Excellent programs and field trips for the kids. Homework at times is extreme. The former first lady and Sadie visited the school this year, and the former American Idol contestant Will McCar performed for the students. Everything seems well planned and runs smooth. This school makes learning fun for the kids. Routine parent teacher conferences.Fun Carnival!

As we are new to the area, we cannot comment on all aspects of Bush school. Initial contact showed us a professional, open and friendly face, where the staff has proved themselves to be more than accommodating. We certainly feel happy and confident about Bush as our choice of school. Our 5 year old has taken to the school immediately, and is delighted with her teacher (Mrs Brown in KG), and is glad to go to school each day. She has even elected to travel by bus. The overall feel of the school is reassuring and inspires confidence in the abilities of the staff to care for and guide children.
