Can't say enough positive things about this school. It all starts at the top, and as a parent I appreciate a Principal who can lay down the rules and still play kickball with the kids at recess. Friendly atmosphere, outstanding staff...the only thing I am sad about is that my fourth grader has to leave this year!
My family has been associated with David Elementary for about 6 yrs now ! I've read most of the comments here and absolutely agree that THIS IS BY FAR the BEST school you can find in CISD ! I've been volunteering at different positions and love the parent involvement at this school.Story time,Book Fair, Library days,Destination Imagination,Classroom help,Copying,Bulletin Board help etc are some of the fantastic opportunitues for parents.Principal and front office, Nurse and evenCafe ladies are awesome.Best Teachers you will find anywhere ! Almost no turn out .Music and Art programs , G.T and programs are great.Highly recommend this school.
My son was transferred here after spring break. I was little worried if he is going to adjust here, since it was our first move to new school. But staff & teachers at David is just amazing. Very kind & helpful. My son adjusted here so quickly & so well that he can't wait to go back to school after summer break. Overall very satisfied & happy. GO DAVID ELEMENTARY!!!
It doesn't get any better than David Elementary. Strong faculty and curriculum, caring administrators, highly active PTO, beautiful setting at the edge of a great park. My children went to David all through elementary.
David is wonderful! Two of my children attended David before we moved. I wish we were still there. The academics and enrichment classes (library, music, PE, art) were fabulous! I was not impressed with the principal, but the rest of the faculty/staff were very friendly and willing to help. There is alot of parent involvement inside and outside the classroom. Parents read to classes, help with copying or preparing materials for class, work the book fair and tons of other things. We really miss it. The school is in a great neighborhood and I always felt that my kids were safe there.
I have 2 children that transferred mid-term (jan) to David Elementary - 3rd and 4th grade. They had previously attended an excelling school in Austin and an excelling school in Cy-Fair school district. David blows both of these schools away - the teachers are extremely caring about each individual student, not only about their learning but their being accepted into the classroom. The level of learning is much higher at David and the school is very well organized. Parents can check homework due and test scores online at any time. I think one of the best aspects of the school is that the students overall are very innocent in comparison to other schools - bad language, fights, and disrespect are not tolerated by the teachers but also by the other students. There's peer pressure to behave and follow rules as opposed to breaking them. David is by far the best school!
Wonderful school! I have two children at David Elementary. The teachers love working at this school and they are content and happy which helps them focus on your children. Parents are always telling me how lucky they are to be at this elementary. They have many many volunteer activities that help the school and the teachers throughout the year. The school district starts testing for gifted and talented children in 2nd grade when the gap starts to widen for those children who are able to take in more information at a higher level.
My child has attended first grade at David Elementary. Here are some things I wish I had known before I chose to locate in an area zoned to David Elementary. The Conroe ISD does not provide any accomodation for gifted and talented children until third grade. While all instructors are certified and trained to deal with gifted and talented children, instructional attention is necessarily focused on lowest achieving and least prepared students. David draws from a relatively affluent community and may have less disadvantaged students than other schools. However, Texas minimum educational standards are not high in the early elementary years and well prepared students from out of will not be very challenged. Other nearby school districts do begin identifying G&T students as early as kindergarten. Parent volunteering consists of raising money, organizing fundraisers, and giving meals/gifts to teachers. No involvement in classroom or help for teachers.
David is a fantastic school where parent involvement is abounding and the teachers are top notch. Our principal is a wonderful man who gets to know each of the children personally. Beginning in 1st grade each child has PE daily as well as a daily rotation of music, art and computers and a weekly trip to the library which has a 2 story castle in it where the children can sit and read their books. David is located in the heart of the Woodlands which is known for its beauty and excellence in educational standards and has consistantly been rated the highest by the state of Texas.
David Elementary is a gem of a school located in The Woodlands. My sons' teachers have all been very helpful and responsive to all our questions and concerns. One teacher consistently creates a challenging curriculum for our third grade son that does not entail busy work or worksheets. He has been challenged and engaged thoroughly this year. Another son has had difficulties with reading. He is receiving individualized help during school and his teachers keep us informed and provide strategies that we can use at home. The front office staff is always welcoming. This school has a wonderful atmosphere that shows this is a great place to learn.
