Wise Elementary School

I seriously considered enrolling my child in this school. After touring the school and speaking with staff I decided that I wouldn't enroll the family dog in this facility. They seem to be focused on meeting minimums instead of encouraging excellence. The whole experience was very disappointing.

My daughter is in Kindergarten at Wise w/Ms. Rose & loves her. Anytime my husband or I have questions the teacher gets right back w/us. I also have to say that one of the comments left by another parent stating that Wise doesn't update parents on activities at the school is nonsense. There is always paperwork being sent home from the school with updates of ongoing functions in my daughters folder. If you want to be apart of the PTA go talk to someone at the school. I received information about creating an account online where parents have access to info listing all the functions going on at the school with dates, etc. The only reason I give Wise 4 stars is because no school is perfect and there is always room for improvement.

My son is in the first year dual language class with Ms. Moore and absolutely loves it. The faculty is wonderful!

Both of my children go to Wise and have enjoyed their time there. Mrs. Miller (2nd grade) is absolutely wonderful! My son is ADHD and this is the first year I feel he had a teacherwho really understood him and his needs. He got sraight A's this year and I think it has alot to do with the wonderful teacher he had!

Wise is awesome! I have 7 year old twins entering 2nd grade and feel that my children are getting the best there is to offer! Everything from teachers, principals, office staff to janitors genuinely care about my babies! We love you Wise Elementary!! Lisa Lewis

Wise Elem. has a new principal and if she stays I think the school will turn around on some old issues it had. Ms. Aydelott and Ms. Parkhill are wonderful. I have a handicapped child and they are doing a great job with him. Right now handicapped children this age have nothing to do. A playground activities director would be a dear blessing. Something to integrate the children better would help on the playground a lot.

I love Wise Elementry. I absolutely love Ms. Williams (kinder) teacher. My son was not allowed to go to pre-k because we where over the income lever allowed. So he was behind when he went to kinder. I moved and had to tranfer him to her class. He went from nothing to knowing tons of stuff in only 6 weeks. She is super!

I think that there should be more understandning teachers and more things for the children to do. I haave not yet seen my child bring home anything from art class that showed his abilities in that class. His teacher this year and last had no understanding of needs, and didn't make class time interesting and fun. If it is fun and interesting the students may be more inclined to participate rather than just do another worksheet. Also how can parents be involved if they are not asked. They need more roundness in their classes, teach more on real things not years ago, we don't use those today.

This is my second go round with elementary schools, I am a 2nd generation Chapel Hillian, my 22 yr old is a 3rd generation and her children will also go to Chapel Hill. I love this school, always have, the teachers actually care about student advancement and academic understanding not just their TASS or TASP or whatever the current test of the decade is for graduation. Teachers actually help students who may be struggling to find alternatives within the school to assist getting them on level. Chapel Hill School District gets an A+ in my book. All grade levels.
