At first i was a little hesitant at enrolling my daughter in the pre-k 3 class since she isnt around kids at home i thought i would give it a shot. Just 3 months in a she has learned so many things that I thought were impossible at her age. The school & staff are caring and they go above and beyond to help your child learn. They will take the time to talk to you and they actually care what you think. I first thought this was a school for the underprivilged or the bad kids but its just like public school without the overcrowding. I think the size makes for all the difference when your child is getting that one on one attention he/she wouldnt get otherwise. I love my decision to enroll my daughter and would recommend this school to other parents wholeheartedly.-Heather
This review seems to be from a disgrantal parent because in spring 2008 Outreach was recognized by TEA for the improvement in the test scores. The supertandent is doing a great job with over 200 students. Students recieve the best intervention with acceloraters who have high qualificatins in education. Students are the most important part of the school. Teachers are doing everything possible to make sure students learn and are able to excel in their education with the expectation of every child to recieve a higher education after high school.
This school is a huge disappointment. It is ill equiped to handle any children. The teachers are wonderful, but the administration, management, and policies are not as they appear. Learning opportunities are nothing like they were advertised in the charter, brochure, and handbook. There is little involvement from parents and administration. The blame game is constantly being played on school failing scores, funding, and enrollment. No one is willing to take responsibility for any negative issue, but administration is alway the first to say 'I' did that when there is a positive issue. I would not recommend this school to anyone, but do encourage the teachers to find better, higher quality employment.
The children come first. Both my girls attend Outreach Word Academy. The children come first and this school has some of the most dedicated staff around. The school is still new, and because it is the only choice for some parents that have been through the ringer with the public system, some of the boys are a 'little rough around the edges'. Behavior control is a top concern for this school. Each child is encouraged to do their personal best without being labeled as the smart or dumb kids. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child. The main struggles of this school center around money management. Overall, I am thrilled with the progress that my girls are making.
