i have had a wonderful experience at this school. We have had one that graduated and one currently enrolled and one i plan on starting in the fall. This school prepares hearts and minds for the future. The kids form lasting friendships and grow together spiritually and academically. it provides opportunities for community involvement and you can play sports even if you have never handled a basketball!! i highly recommend considering what you value in an education in a Christian environment!
I am a parent and a staff member of Texas Chrisitan Academy. It is unfortunate that a particular parent chooses to use this forum for her own benefit and clear who this parent is by her comments. As a parent, we are extremely happy with the academic curriculum. We compare the curriculum and class work with public school friends and believe to be getting a much better education in this private school. As an employee of the school, I am personally involved in admissions and testing of students coming from the public sector. Students at TCA are much more advanced than most students coming from the public sector and home-schooled sector. The other negative comments made by the so-called 'parent' are made by someone who does not know what she is stating and is not factual.
TCA is a fantastic school with a rigorous academic curriculum. The current administrator has implemented great policies to make students AND parents accountable for their actions. This includes grades by the student and behavior by both students and parents. The school if well-backed and sound. It is unfortunate that FORMER parents who have their own agenda would use this forum to further slander the school. It is obvious who this person is by her comments and vial representation of the school. This person has no actual knowledge of anything she has represented.
Poor leadership. 6 changes in administration (elementary and secondary principals and head of school) within past 7 years. Outdated curriculum concerns may lead to difficulty obtaining next years accredidation. Current administrator has no high school admin experience and becomes unprofessional and threatening in pressured situations. This has resulted in many students suspensions or expulsions (n/a to us). Parental support poor due to treatment by staffers. Financially insecure and heavy pressure to sell items and donate money. Financial stewardship: poor and very lilttle checks and balances in most areas. Social situations: more bullying and poor treatment between students than many local public schools. Student disrespect: high, however, no behavioral consequences given. Difficult school, constant changes each year, little accountability, and an untouchable board made up of white males only.
TCA is a wonderful school. Daughter came in 8th grade and immediately made to feel welcome. TCA educates the whole student. Transferred from premier college-prep school in city where she was top student; academics at TCA are at least as solid (SAT preparation has been added). But then TCA also works with a struggling student to help them perform. If a student wants to play a sport, cheer, or be on Student Council, they can. Students respect each other. They don't use locks on their lockers because they don't need to -- in our experience, this is amazing. Parents are volunteering everywhere and in partnership with the school. This is not an 'elite' private school of privileged students. Students attend from across the city and financial aid is not just 'available' but promoted in a high-profile way. We are so thankful to be able to choose Texas Christian Academy
