Administrators are kind, understanding, and generous. They want the best for all students and run the school fairly, effectively, and prudently. They know all of the parents and students, and they represent the best of educational administration.
Teachers are smart, supportive, helpful, and caring. Most teachers have master's degrees, and they expect a high level of excellence from students. However, they also operate under a "growth mindset" where they realize students will make mistakes or that students learn at a different pace and will work with students to make sure they understand the material. The teachers are one of the best aspects of Live Oak.
Live Oak Classical School provides a classical Christian education for students from pre-k through 12th grade. The school is divided into three levels: Grammar (JK-6), Logic (7-9), and Rhetoric (10-12). The school provides a world-class education, following models of classical school outlined by Charlotte Mason but modifying it for today's world. They also focus on character development and promote an ecumenical Christian worldview. The faculty and administrators care deeply about helping children grow and operate under a "growth mindset" where failure helps one learn and grow. They encourage and support individual gifts and talents and offer a range of special classes multiple times a week, including art, music, choir, drama, Spanish, Latin, ready bodies, and PE.
This school is fantastic for many reasons. I encourage you to check it out.
Our son has been a student since pre-K and is now entering the 8th grade. Teachers and staff are all deeply devoted to do the best they can for all the students. Despite having some disagreements with some of the school methods (no school is perfect) I am often amazed to hear our son discuss certain topics with an unexpected high degree of knowledge. I truly feel this to be the BEST school (private and not) in the Central Texas area - and I consider myself demanding, critical, and of high expectations.
Live Oak is just what we were looking for! We wanted our children to be challenged. We wanted a loving, Christian environment. We wanted them to learn to become great community leaders and thinkers. Live Oak fills their days with so much learning....I don't know how they do it. The kids absolutely love the school. The teachers and administrators are so dedicated and strive to make the school better everyday. It's well worth the investment in our children's future.
