I have been involved with Connally ISD for the last 25 years. One as a student, and now as a parent. I decided to move back into the district as an adult for my children to attend school because of the experince I had as a student. HUGE MISTAKE! I dont know what has happend to CISD but it is not the same school. To much emphasis placed on the TAKS test, and the teachers have zero recourse for problem students. Know over half the teaches there. They are wonderful people but their hands are tied with dismal district philosophy to learning.
With 2 kids in the CISD, both since kindergarden, I have 14 school-years worth of experiences with all of the CISD schools, except the high school. Out of all of these years, the past 2 yrs while my youngest attended 3rd & 4th grade at Connally Elementary, 4th in particular, have been absolutely the worst! A struggling student PLUS multiple learning disabilities MINUS the concern & cooperation one would expect from educators & professionals EQUALS a student that has the worst school year ever! This school and the Special Ed. Dept. could've done ALOT more to help my child get the education he deserved. Parents get involved in your childs education, especially at this school if your child is a struggling student and most especially if your child is in the Response to Intervention process! Ask alot questions!
The school as a whole is all right but when it comes to taking care of the needs of kids with high functioning autism. They do not consider it to be a handicap. these kids are over looked due to the fact cause their grades are not low enough to qualify for speical ed so their needs are pushed to the side.My son is one of these students. He has problems keeping his desk and folder orangized, he is consantly bullied at school. he cant even ride the public school bus due to excessive bullying and he cant ride the special ed due to it has to be an educational need. when is safety not an educational need. The teachers do not take the time to let my son explain things or will ingore him when he raises his hand for something. I Really hate this district!
Connally Elementary has an outstanding administration and staff. From the principals to the custodians, everyone is there to do whatever it takes to help the children succeed and feel good about their efforts. Encouragement, positive leadership, exemplary teachers and support staff are abundant.
In my oppinion the school has flaws they lose track of the goal of educating the child and are more woried about passing the muster and keeping the government happy at our childrens expense.
Hi there. My name is Tennile and my kids have been in Connally and still are in there and they love it. It is the best school in the Waco area. I will never take them anywhere else. The teachers are great and the office people are great. The Principals are the best. Mr. Cumby has been there for me and my kids. He works with us and is the best. Mrs. White was good too when my kids were there too. Thank you.
My daughter has attended Kindergarten and 1st Grade at Connally Primary. I've been very pleased with the quality of the curriculum, staff and teachers. The facilities are clean and new.
