Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Moving to Weatherford from out of state, we had a lot of anxiety about which school to send our children. I now feel that we are the luckiest people in town because we found a truly great school in Ikard. My children are happy and are excelling in school. We are happy with everyone from the Principal to the lunch ladies and ESPECIALLY THE TEACHERS! I cannot say thank you enough to them!

I have two daughters who currently attend Ikard and I am a former teacher. My daughters have had wonderful teachers who work very hard. Their teachers treat them with respect and the teachers are very friendly to me. I was so happy that my oldest daughter's second grade teacher taught at a very high level because it makes third grade so much easier for her. I feel that the school runs very well for being a larger school. The school must also have the best janitors in the world because I have never seen a school so clean! My oldest daughter is on a first name basis with a lunch lady and will run across a public place to hug this woman! That does not always happen at schools this large. I always get compliments from the staff about my kids and I know they are in a safe environment. One of the 6th grade male teachers is even driving my children's bus and they love it. The bus is never late now that he is the driver! GIve Ikard a chance! You will like it if you get involved and get to know people. Listen to the teachers because I have seen a lot of bad schools and bad teachers in my time and this place does not fall under that category. Thanks!

My child began Kindergarten at Ikard in 2009 and I couldn't be happier. Comments from previous years are surprising to me and couldn't be more different than our experience. Each year my child's teacher has been exemplary. After talking to parents whose children are in different classes, I've learned that it's because ALL the teachers are good - not just a few. This holds true for the administrators and support staff as well. PTA membership isn't great and parental involvement could improve. That being said, it is worth noting that PTA members and officers are constantly changing. The PTA officers from 2005 are long gone - time to get involved!

Our daughter's teachers have all been OUTSTANDING. She has attended Ikard since Kindergarten and is currently a 3rd grader. Participating in the Quest program is the highlight of her week. Ikard has a great atmosphere for learning, and it is obviously a team effort by the entire staff.

This school has been a terrible experience for my child and for myself as a parent. We moved from a great school where we experienced no problems with grades or behavior. After a year and a half at Weatherford, I was called into the office, where the vice principle and counselor suggested to me that my child seek behavioral help (i.e. Ritalin.) I thought this was a rash decision seeing as how I'd never even been called before. That's when they informed me that my child was being sent to the office on a semi regular basis, without even having a note sent home. I asked why I wasn't notified and was told they only involve parents as a last resort. A few more incidences occurred before I withdrew my child and enrolled in a different school where my child's "behavioral problems" seem to have magically disappeared.

I was very disappointed with Ikard Elementary. The teacher/parent communication I experienced was horrible. I would write to my child's teacher in the assigned area in his notebook and would note get a responce back about important things, such as transportation changes. I had to contact the principal on many occassions when situations arised. My child was spanked without my permission, not following the rules in the handbook on the steps and guidelines when spanking. He was spanked simply because he kept saying no, calmly while sitting in chair. Inside of calming him down or trying to speak to him, he suddenly was spanked. My son got hurt twice while at son. Once in the classroom that led us to spending the evening in Cook's Emergency Room. Overall Ikard failed my child and I moved to place him in a different school. I would not recommend Ikard to anyone.

are very biased and as a parent you have to intervene. If you don't live in a certain neighborhood, they place you in lower skillset class and are not given consideration for parts in school plays

I think this schools administration needs help. All they do is sit in their offices and make acusations against children. They need to be taken out of office! This school is soooo far behind academically that it is rediculous! I would suggest taking you children elswhere if you have a choice!

Academically this school is severly lacking! We moved here in the middle of the school year from Chicago and my daughter who was a little above average in Chicago all of a sudden became the genius of her class! She is in kindergarten and none of the other students can read or do basic math beyond 1+1. She never has any homework and complains that all they do is go to recess all day! They are learning things that she learned when she was 3 years old! Other than the fact the the children aren't learning anything I guess the school is okay. Nice staff...

Good school but should have things for kids to do on site to help them at home.

Ikard is new and still working out the kinks, but is, overall, a good school with dedicated teachers and staff.

It has alot of potential however it needs someone to ensure there are checks and balances. Someone needs to ensure there is equity among the opportunities for all the children not just the PTA presidents and volunteers children. The volunteers carry allot of weight with the staff for some reason. While I agree their time put into the school should be recognized, give them a plaque or certificate instead of giving their children the special projects and opportunities. Some of us have to work for a living. I know of several children bypassed for opportunites and were crushed and deflated because they could not understand why the same kids were picked over & over again & they were not. They did not understand the rules of the game. Also, class distribution is not evenly distributed either. Some teachers got the high risk kids and some get the PTA officers and members.

The school allows the volunteers to influence acadamics. Too much politics here. Need to set an example and provide opportunites for all the kids not just the rich ones.

I wish I had wonderful things to say about this school. I am a very active district volunteer. I have children attending Seguin Elem., Tison Middle and the Ninth Grade Center as well as 3 step children attending Ikard. I have always been welcomed as an involved parent and staff assistant except here. Everytime I have ever come to this school to pick them up, attend class parties or school carnivals, to bring them their forgotten back pack etc. I have been greeted by rude office staff and teachers. I have never once been greeted kindly or been made to feel like I was a welcome parent nor have I seen any of the staff members make any other parent feel wanted or welcome. If this school keeps treating the parents this way they will never build the kind of school that sends strong confident children on into the world! School/parent relationship is priceless!

I think that Ikard Elementary School is wonderful. I have volunteered all year and I have been welcomed and appreciated every day that I am there. I let them know I am there to help them and make their jobs a little easier. Because of the volunteers, the teachers can concentrate on teaching the children and not the little things. I have never felt more welcome at a school. Weatherford ISD is great. I am so proud to say that my kids are Ikard Cowboys! Another thing is that the PTA has worked so hard to have great educational expriences and I am so grateful.

In my opinion, Ikard Elementary is the best school in Weatherford. The teachers and staff go above and beyond in order to assure that each child is successful. There are wonderful parent volunteers and an outstanding P.T.A. We couldn't ask for a better group of people. Everything done at Ikard is definitely for the kids! My child has had a wonderful experience the last 2 years here. It is not only a beautiful school on the outside, but very warm and welcoming on the inside. I wouldn't want my child to attend anywhere else! It is great!

I am so glad my children go to Bose Ikard! It has been my experience that the office staff has been very helpful and willing to answer any questions I might have. Bosie Ikard takes special precaution to keep the students safe by asking us to follow certian guidelines when we enter the building. The administrators have always been willing to listen to any of my concerns. I have two children that attend this school, their teachers have gone out of their way to keep me informed about both of my children. My children attend the after school care program there and a couple of the behavior children attend also. My children enjoy these other children there is nothing scary about them. Kudos to the Bose Ikard staff.

My child has been treated very well this year at Ikard by all of his teachers. He has made alot of progress this year because his teachers care about his education. The PTA does a ton of work to get things for the school that they would not have otherwise. I think before we bash teachers we should walk a day in their shoes. They work long hours for very little pay and many of them spend their own money to buy things that the kids need for the classroom. Behavior problems are part of every school and the administrators to do their best make sure that behavior problems do not interfere with learning. If some people have problems with the PTA or the volunteers then they have not put in the time to get know them. These people are friendly and go above and beyond what other PTAs do.

The Bose Ikard Elementary is a great learning institution for my children. I appreciate the effort and hard work that is visible with all the staff employed at the campus. The atmosphere is friendly and helpful, all the way from the front office to the classrooms. My children have had a great learning experience the past two years. The teachers have helped in meeting all of their personal needs in the classroom. The academic expectations are high but take into consideration growth in all areas and celebrate the steps taken toward reaching individaul goals. The principal has quality leadership skills that provide a positive learning environment. The principal also has a positive relationship with her staff. I have nothing but the highest respect for this campus and it's fine staff. Therefore, I would recommend this campus to incoming families and other community members.

I feel that the staff of Bose Ikard work very well with the PTA volunteers to make Bose Ikard a super place for my two children to attend school. The PTA works extremely hard to support the staff and the staff works hard to give my children a variety of high level learning activies that motivate them to be successful students. I encourage parents to become involved in the Ikard program and watch the benefits that you and your children will reap!

I feel this school has a long way to go! The teachers work very hard and have the best for the childern at heart. Yet this school has many students with behavior problems and parents that feel its not my child thats causing a problem. The staff has worked very hard at making parents feel welcome. The PTA has asked over and over for input from parents on how to make things better, yet no one is willing to step forward and help or bring up a problem. Parents do not come to PTA meetings to voice their concern. The same parents have done all the work time after time. Get involved, speak up, so we know how to make Ikard a great school.

Bose Ikard is a typical public school setting. I feel as if the personel at this school are rude and inconsiderate to both student and parents. I feel as if they think they are more important than the parents. 'We want more parent interaction', yet when you do you are made to feel as if you are a pain instead of a help. The PTA and volunteer are equally rude! They do not welcome new comers well and have an attitude of competition with each other instead of helping they are out to make themselves look good. So sad because this is a really nice looking facility too bad I can't say the same for the staff!
