My son just started there at the end of the 2nd week after a forced transfer due to population issues between the 3 neighborhood schools. Are parents always made to feel so unwelcome here? I did not appreciate the uninviting climate to the school. The principal does not allow parents to walk to the classrooms, for any reason in the morning. I had a hard time wakling him to class his first day there. By the time we were transferred, they had already had orientation and "Parent Orientation". They sicked the principal on me, who looked at me like I was just another overbearing helicopter mom that just wouldn't leave. It was very discouraging for the rest of the year.

I love this school so far. I have two daughters in Greene and they are extremely happy. The teachers my daughters had this school year (08-09) are wonderful. I like the racial diversity also. In addition to academic education, there is education in the appreciation of people with different racial backgrounds. I hope the next 3 to 4 years will continue to offer nothing short of excellence.

I have been at Greene for 4 years now, and I have not been disappointed. I admire our teachers, our principals, our art, music, PE and drama teachers. There is a rapport between them that is unseen in other schools (I have attended others). You will find the principal in classrooms, at tutoring sessions, and in the cafeteria during lunch and breakfasts. I absolutely do not agree about the 'cliques' that were referred to previously. I do agree with the bad taste article from yesterday. The comment on 8-19 is just a parent who wants to complain and be a victim. Don't wait for someone to call you, do something yourself. That's what makes a good volunteer anyway.

I think Greene is an exceptional school and have never felt excluded or not a part of things. In fact, this year I have been invited to meet with the teachers at least 4 times to get updates on curriculum. The teachers are wonderful and the principals know all the kids. It is a very warm and inviting school. Keep up the great work, Greene!

I am shocked by the parent who wrote in on august 19, 2007. The PTA is wonderful at Greene and i have been given numerous opportunities to particpate on many levels. There is nothing about a click at this school. The teachers at Greene are phenomenal and the principal knows all kids by name and welcomes them everyday. I question any parent who would use profanity in a review of a school. Bad taste!!!

I was very disappointed in the PTA involvement. You have to fit a certain 'click' to be included in committees and everything. PTA meetings were only 10 minutes??? My oldest is there & have three more that will be there... NOT HAPPY about community involvement or family/community feel to this school... Expected more of the school! Love the diversity of students... but again, you don't fit a certain class/race, you have to really WORK HARD to be sure your child is not left out... Teachers are WONDERFUL, principal & pta SUCK!

Not happy with feeling included. Seems you have to fit certain class/race to be included. Not happy with principal or PTA. Teachers are wonderful! Education level is excellent! My child excelled, but as far as PTA, not impressed! PTA is supposed to build a community feeling, I volunteered for PTA & all the committees, and was never called...
