My son is a student at West Elementary and I love the district. I grew up in Waco Schools many years ago and that was a bad deal for sure. We moved to West to start our son in school with hopes he would grow strong and thrive in this environment much like my sisters children did. So far we are happy with our choice. My child is head strong and independant and doesn't fit a mold (as some disgruntled parents would state). The teachers have been blessing and the elementary school nurse is fantastic and so sweet and helpful. My child makes great grades and is happy and loves to attend school thanks to the wonderful staff at West.

Our child has attended this school since kindergarten this year our child will be in the third grade here. We wish we could attend elsewhere. If your child is Model student without a bit of independent thinking they will 'fit' the mold. If your child is not mold material, then look forward to a myriad of emotional problems to develop in your child, long discussions with staff and administration with little resolution or results. This school can turn a compassionate loving child into a child that hates school, thinks they are not normal, moody, sad and frustrated.

I have mixed emotions about West elementary school. i have had problem with the teachers not watching the students. My son has came home with brusies where other students have hit him and the teacher has done nothing, He is constanly having trouble with other kids calling him names and the teachers do nothing. I have talked to them and their response is if I don see it than I am not doing anything. There is no structure!!

I absolutely love this school and this town! The teachers are very invloved and dedicated. The small towm atmosphere helps bring a personal touch to the school. In my experience, those who have a problem with the school, it's because of personal feelings. My kids, on the otherhand, love going and can't wait until summer is over!

I have several children in the west district; i have found that the teachers do not care! they are just their for a pay check. The teachers think they are so great, but they need to remember they work for us the tax payer . If i did not own a house in west i would not keep my children in this district.

Great school. I really like the small town atmosphere. The teachers here are really caring. I feel my child is a little bit ahead of himself and this is due in part to the education he is receiving at West.

I am very proud for my son to be a West Trojan. I believe the school system is excellent. He is in the first grade now and has a wonderful teacher, and already knows how to read. I believe it is my job as a parent to maintain a positive attitude. I have visited the campus many times and helped out with the field trips, and I always enjoyed them. This is a great school.

The teachers do care a great deal about the students in West, or they would not give so much of themselves in their work. A child who goes to West is lucky to have such caring individuals. Parents are encouraged to keep contact with the teachers so that together, each child receives the best education. I am proud that my daughter goes to West Elementary and I value her years there!

The leadership and the teachers at this school is the worst I have ever seen at any school. The teachers do not care and they think they are the best thing since sliced bread. Don t question a teacher or you as a parent will get in trouble with the school. The school board is like the KKK (very Clannish). If you are looking to put your child in this school run don t walk to another school. East LA has better schools then this one.
