I would not recommend this school to anyone! They fall short on having good teachers, staff that actually care about the students. They are just like public school its all about numbers. If your child needs extra help you can forget that too, again same as public. Best thing you can do for your child is to keep them out of this school.
I really love Vista. Like anything there are things you like and don't like. I love how enthusiastic the principal is. I love that he really cares about the students success. The kindergarten and first grade teachers are exceptional! I enjoy the PTO and moms who volunteer. I just wish we had even more parents get involved. I also think an accelerated reading program would be awesome! But over all this school is top notch!
I have a son in 1st grade and I just love it. His teacher is kind yet challenging. Everything is very organized. The students set goals and work hard to achieve them. The principal meets with k-8 every morning to get them excited for the day. Every friday the school has a pep rally to celebrate learning and hard work. The kids all feel like rockstars running through a human tunnel made by the other students. The PTO is good and parents seem to really care. The school has a Christian feel, without meaning to. The curriculum seems to be ahead of some other public schools. The only complaint is I wish the jr high had a sports/athletic program. They have PE and play sports but do not compete.
I had three children in Vista Academy. Where the elementary grades are relatively good the older grades are pathetic. If your child needs special instruction most teachers are ill equiped to provide any no matter the grade level. The teachers 6th-8th are poor examples of instructors and do little more than grade than actually teach. The administration also leaves much to be desired. They function with little regard to the parents. I felt I was doing my children a service by putting them into an "above standard" school when sending them to Vista, now I know I did them much more of a service when I took them out.
