I am disappointed in some of the reviews. Winnsboro strives to be the best at football and other sports because it does promote involvement of parents and students. This does not mean that academics are not important. Students have interests in other things such as sports and it is important to have this available to them. I believe that we have wonderful teachers at WISD. The disciplinary problems at MMS are usually a problem but that is because discipline does not take place at home. I have 3 children in this school system, 2 in middle school and one in high school and they have all been succesful thus far. It does begin at home and then we have to follow through until they complete these difficult years. If you think that a larger school doesn't have problems, then you are sadly mistaken.

As as an educator myself I understand how difficult being a teacher is, but I still believe that all teachers should strive to give their best and inspire the best their students can give. Unfortunately, I do not believe that many of the teachers at MMS are succeeding in this goal. I believe the negative atmosphere at this campus begins at the administrative level and makes its way all the way down to the self-confidence and excitement the children feel about learning. It is very unfortunate since our Elementary School is so excellent. Our family was so disappointed with this school that we have made the difficult decision to Homeschool our middle school aged child.

Memorial Middle School is a very biased school. If your child has not grown up in Winnsboro all their life they will not get any attention or assistance from the teachers or staff. The Texas education system is horribly behind the rest of the country. My seventh grader is having to sit through lessons that should have been taught two years ago to her peers. This is Winnsboro and everything revolves around football and girl's basketball. Spanish is the only language taught in Winnsboro, and that is if you are lucky enough to be handpicked for the class.

School is VERY weak in Math. Parental involvement is discouraged. Lack of professionalism at the highest level.

Both of my children have been attending Winnsboro schools going on their third scolastic year. I am extremly pleased with the disapline aspect and the drive to create wonderful learners in our children.
