Midway High School does not offer much support for students with ADHD . My child has a 405 plan. Last year's plan included scheduling academic classes in the morning. That was not done. Frequent communication from teachers to the parents for missing assignments is also listed and that is not done regularly. Encouragement to use a planner is listed, but no one checks the planner except at home. Emails are not returned from some instructors in a timely (several days) manner. I have had one teacher express disagreement with the 504 committee decisions to me loudly in the hall after school. Another expressed disagreement in a more private and polite manner. 504 mods seem to be taken as suggestions rather than requirements. Some teachers really get learning differences and adapt for student needs. Others voice disagreement with the 504 process and tell me how busy they are.

This is my first year at Midway High School and I can honestly say it is probably one of the most creative and useful experiences I've ever had. I'm involved in Orchestra, DIM, and all Pre-AP classes and I always feel like I'm being treated justly. Most teachers are attentive to your needs and understand your problems. It has a very diverse student body and anyone can at least find one friend. From what I can tell, there is very little bullying, and even rarer is there ever a fight. Every student is encouraged to apply themselves and are told to go for whatever goal they want. Midway offer great education along with great experience.

For a suburban school, it fits the mold. I've gone to this school for ten years now, and I'm glad to say this year is my last one. Some things that I've observed over the years: This school has a very right-wing mindset. Students and sometimes teachers openly criticize the current president. The dress code is a joke. This is a public school that we are required to go to by law if we live in the district, yet they are forcing us to cut our hair. I thought this was public, not private. The only positive is academics. Many AP courses are offered and the teachers teach them well, but don't expect diversity in these classes. I'm currently enrolled in 5 pre-ap classes right now, as a sophomore, and there's probably 2 minorities/ 25 white kids in every class of mine. Also, this school is as religious as a public school can be. They have developed a mindset that they're just going to do what they want regardless of the law. For example, a group prayer was recently led at an event for my peers and me. I'm pretty sure this is against the law. If you're more aimed towards quality education and less towards the social life, pick this school. Otherwise, good luck. This school is cliquish.

Completely overrated. Lazy staff. No guidance. No interest in students. No sensitivity to students. They just want the student seated so they can collect their $40 a day from the government. Strict dress codes ridiculous. I'd like to see more flexibility in teaching methods. Tests aren't used to measure performance either - homework is weighted as much as tests. So that means your child had better do all the homework and not miss one because that becomes a zero factored in. My daughter gets 100s in Math, but missed two homework assignments and came out with a C. Ridiculous.

I am very pleased with Midway High. I've seldom seen a school with more opportunities for students, in academics, sports and arts. I have only daughters, and it is rare to find a HS in Texas that will give as much attention to girl sports as it does to boy's football. Also, the level of its academics is outstanding.

im not liking this school too much. They have strict hair codes and dress codes they are taking away from the student's personal style and freedom. I feel mildly safe but I think they give to much homework. One teacher acts as if its the only class that student has.

Midway High School has been a good school for my daughter. The students attend meetings with their advisory group every month, have a 'house' principal and counselor that stays with them from Freshman to Senior year, and have numerous opportunities for school involvement. For such a large school, they have managed to keep the small-town feel that was enjoyed 20 years ago when I attended MHS. The kids are still somewhat spoiled, as are the parents, but this is a well-functioning school and district.

Midway HIgh School is outstanding in extracurricular activities, partent involvment and dicipline. However I felt when my daughter attended some teachers judged her and gave racist comments. Many were nice however some we had problems with and it seemed as though the house principles didn't take the time to listen.

I sent my daughter to MHS for an entire semester. I cannot believe the size of this school. How do they keep track of every student? My daughter told me that instead of learning in class, the teacher would have them watch a video ain class instead. This would happen in every class. And she told me that some of the teachers would change other students grades to keep them passing. My child now goes to a smaller more

Midway has a good education system, and it has very good teachers. However, since Midway is located in a suburban area, the kids are a bit spoiled and they act out. The school has a ton of problems, such as its students speak out against it constantly, but academically, it is a good school.

The education system at Midway is very strong. Leadership from the administration down to the staff is very strong with a lot of experience. When struggles face this campus they are quickly taken care of and discussed to prevent them from happening again.

I have had one child go through this school and have another one still in. I have been very happy with the the quality of academics and the electives offered. I feel there is a place or nitch for every child in tis school. I love the rules the children have to abide by (dress code, hair). Great teachers and administrators who actually care about your kids.

I am not pleased with Midway High. The students are terrible in behavior and some of the teachers are not responsible enough. Many teachers, however, are wonderful and deserve to teach better students. There are fights frequently. Midway High school has wonderful teachers, a great school building, many open opportunities, but bad, untolerable students in its halls.

Its a great school.They have many extracurricular activities for the kids to join. My Brother last year was in Powerlifting but he just graduated this past year. I am currently in colorgaurd, and last year my sister played football. The PTA is a great way for parents to get involved, and learn whats going on and help with it. My little Brother whom is in the first grade, and at first the things he was learing seemed to hard for him. But with the teachers support and help he was able to make it through it. I have been enrolled in Midway since I started school and Really wouldnt rather be any where else. Its a great school expessialy if you are wanting your kids in a good enviroment and to live life with a healthy education

Midway has gone above and beyond anything I could have expected from a school...When we came from Winnsboro TX to Midway my daughter was in the middle of the sixth grade and could not read ... And with in that half of year and the next the teachers at Midway not only brought her up to the right level of reading witch where she belonged for the sixth and seventh grade ,They also gave her the strength and self confidence to go beyond her reading level.. Now she is in the tenth grade and will graduate and become a greater person because of the dedicated teachers of Midway schools.. So thank you from a mother that had no hope of her daughter ever reading or even graduating.
