Though Wortham is located in a rural setting in Central setting, the teaching force is outstanding! The Music Dept. in the elementary school is exemplary involving its students in choir and instrumental ensemble opportunities, region and state music functions. The secondary music dept has grown from 8 to 90+in a little over five years. The area is safe and the community is very involved in the school's activities. There is no dress code and is not a crime area. All 3 campuses are recognized academically. There seems to be alot of individual attention, also.

I feel Wortham ISD still after all these years puts to much into sports especially male sports. I graduated from this school and 3 of my children have graduated from this school and nothing has changed in that aspect. They did play sports but i feel more can go into the academic programs and even the arts. And alot less favoritism should happen. I know there has been some good football players from this school but i know only one that actually made it and that is Mr. Davis. The rest have problems with the law or quit college. so i think more should be put into academics. The coaching staff are very perjudice i feel.
