The Best School Ever, They Care about the students and that they graduate, they care about your education and what best for you, Im glad that i was able to graduate, they do need to work on the Counseling Department, some of the Counselors they seemed like they didn't want to help the student with graduating, they need to stop making students pay for their Transcripts, they used to send them to the school and give you your transcript but now you have to pay. but in all they are the best school out there
We are new to this area and live in Lone Peak boundaries. After talking to many other parents and students, we chose to send our children to American Fork High. So happy with our decision. Teachers and counselors couldn't be more helpful and the student body seems very welcoming and friendly. My kids are excelling in challenging classes and thriving at tjs school.
American Fork High School is an excellent school. Not only does it help the average, or below students, I have a child who has ADD, excel in every way they are willing to, but it also has amazing A.P. programs, in Foreign Language, Fine Arts, History, Social Studies, Mathematics, Language, and Science. I have been really impressed with the principal and the administration. The teacher are always willing to help anyone who is willing to put forth the time to learn the material. American Fork High School is, in my opinion, one of the better schools in Utah.
I transferred my child to this school from Lone Peak. He received the warmest welcome from the teachers and students. This school does well in academics and athletics, and has a very welcoming environment. Highly recommended!
We moved here a year ago after living in Phoenix. I have to say this is average. The school is overcrowded, and not kept up. There is a new wing to the school, but the older halls/classrooms are falling apart. They do have an excellent sports/music programs, but the academic programs is geared towards those students are highly acheiving. Students struggling in school or not at the top of their class are somewhat forgotten. If you are from out of state the students are very unfriendly and it was very difficult for my child to make friends. After receiving almost straight A's in school in Phoenix, he came to American Fork High School and his grades plumeted to a 2.8gpa, mostly due to social issues. Overall, I wouldn't say this school is 'fantastic' only average.
American Fork high school is a fantastic school. The teachers are helpful, knowledgable and reliable and the student body is friendly and welcoming. At American Fork, the faculty goes to many great lengths to make the school an excellent place for learning and growth. We also have very reputable music and drama departments. Overall, I would most definitely recommend this school.
I think american fork high school is a great pubic high school. The teachers are great, they seem to realy care about their students and their goals. The AP programs are fantasic and the School has an overall amazing pass rate. However, the Principal seems to make very weird decisions regarding the school. She recently dropped the student spirit program the 'cavemen crazies' and is not allowing pep assembly's. Other then the Principal problem American Fork High School is wonderful and i would suggest any parent sending their child there.
This school has an excellent academic record. I believe the AP test passing proficiency sits at 86% across the board. The number of AP programs is one of the largest in the State. For the honors English program alone there is a 20 hour project due the beginning of the sophomore year and I believe a 30 hour project due the first day of the Junior year, with expectation to pass the AP test the end of the junior year. These projects are to be completed over the summer. I can t think of another school in the area with this requirement. I have been very impressed with the teachers as well and there willingness to help children understand the concepts taught. I can t think of a time however when my child was allowed to repeat a test. But maybe it is because my child is in the honors program.
Very poor quality in academics. Emphasis on sports is greater. Community not academically oriented and thus neither is the school. Very low academic expectations and performance levels expected of students. (And this is compared to 3 other high schools, out of Utah, our children have been in.) For example, students given multiple (2 to 3) chances to retake the same exam; teacher takes the highest one. Homework assignments are simplistic, often focused on 'busy work' and not teaching students to think.
