I had the opportunity to be a student teacher at Oak Canyon Junior High and I was very impressed. As a college student, I have observed many Junior High and High Schools in Utah County. This easily made the top 5 of what I think are the best schools I've seen. The teachers are dedicated to what they do and they want the students to succeed. That being said, the students also need to be willing to try their best. The teachers are certainly fair, but they won't hand out A's just for showing up. There are high expectations for each student.

As a 9th grade student, I love the school. The fine arts are amazing. (Adv. Orchestra) we performed at Music In the Parks at Lagoon and one first every year against other schools from the western part of the U.S. The choirs are all very talented, and a student can always make it into a choir. The drama program is amazing and taught by an amazing teacher. The principal is very good at suiting our needs, and is good at disciplining the unbehaving students. Most of the teachers are very young, but they understand how a teen feels and help us a lot. Some of the substitute teachers and teachers are a bit too angry and strict, but besides the disadvantages, it's an amazing school. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else but here.

I am a student in the 2008-2009 year at oak canyon for 7th grade. I love this school because it has great teachers who will help me, and now that a new program called e-time has been added as a 30 minute break between 2nd and 3rd period, I can do a fun activitie or go ask a teacher for help to make my grade better. I admit some things could be better, but this school is definetly above and beyond average.

Oak Canyon has incredible teachers and great fine arts programs, particularly their choirs and drama department. The councilors and administration are very friendly and really care about the kids. All of my children that went to this school had a positive experiance.

Oak Canyon is the only jr. high I would send my kids to in the Orem/Lindon area. Frankly, there's strong leadership, good teachers (although many of them are very young), and very involved parents.

Oak Canyon is a well orginized school. there administration is to good. all though there very orginized there not good to the kids just like adults need respect so do the children and at this school there is not much of that. I say if the kids show respect, respect them back and that is not something the administration knows how to do! It's a very clean school and it had really good teachers but the leadership is not to good.
