I have watched for many years the schools systems change. I personally am saddened by the lack of achievement at Mexican Hat Elementary school. As parents I think we should hold both 'legislators' and 'educators' responsible. Our children no longer are able to learn in an atmoshere without the stress of testing because our school system cannot seem to make AYP. In short the teachers no longer choose how to teach they are now told from minute to minute how they will teach our children by people who don't even know our children . There is no room left for individual personalities and needs because if a minute is lost it may just be a point on a test which may just keep us from meeting AYP yet once again. Schools are for learning and self discovery not test taking!

I personally like the use of the Navajo Language in the Kindergarten class taught by Ms. Mose. I relly enjoyed Mrs. Pearson in the first grade classroom. The children can actually read books and parents can be proud. The Kindergarten Language class is also very unique. Children come home knowing many new words that parents may have never heard before. I very much like the Elementary's style of moving the Kindergarten and first grade class move like High school students. They switch classes a few times and they seem to enjoy their routine unlike the uppergrades where children tend to get bored with the teachers having to be with them all day long.
