Class sizes are large since this is a public school. My son was being bullied and neither the teacher, principal or lunch monitor did anything to address it. We ended up switching schools so he could focus on academics.
This year has been a rough year. There are a few teachers who are down right unprofessional in how the handle and treat the children. The playground staff isn't kind or helpful along with the cafeteria monitors. Overall I think the school has a very negative feeling this this year. I will say there are some really great teachers there that have been great to work with but yikes I hope next year is better!
The principal, counselor and playground staff do not handle kids being bullied very well. They teach the kids not to do it, but then when your child is being bullied, then you child is the one that gets in trouble. The teachers have been great and do a good job.
We love Riverdale Elementary because of the principal, teachers and aides that interact and spend countless hours with our children. Tommy Lee the principal has an awesome hands on approach to making our school the best it can be. He is always improving and making sure the school is up to date in education and safety. The teachers are amazing! The teacher/parent connection is the key to success with kids. The teachers are very communicative and truly care about the success of all of their students. Parent volunteers are always invited to help in the classrooms and I love that parents are able to be involved in their students education. We have been super impressed with the school and its staff and the PTA. We are proud to say that our children are third generation Roadrunners! That decision was a very educated one at that. We researched all of the schools in the area and compared the public vs the charter vs the immersion schools and we still felt that it was the best decision to stick with our community and be the involved parents that make our school the best it can be. We are very proud to be Riverdale Roadrunners.
