My school is La Europa Academy. I am a parent of a student that recently graduated the program. I highly recommend this program without any reservation. This school made a difference in our lives and was truly a god send. They understand what they are doing and offered real solutions which gave us our family back. I am very pleased with the therapy, the education and the social skills our daughter learned while there. The team or staff there is first rate and not only were they good people they were very knowledgeable about what they were doing. I felt my daughter was secure and safe and being taken well care of. Again, 5 stars from a very satisfied parent.
My daughter just graduated from Europa after 8 months. It was the right choice for us. The therapists, teachers, and staff are dedicated to the kids' growth and well being.
My daughter suffered from severe depression. There had been multiple hospitalizations. At LEA she turned her life around and is now doing well. She is alive today because of the work she did at La Europa. I read some of the reviews posted here and elsewhere. Some of the things said are just not true. Things to note: -my daughter was at LEA for 11 months. there are no bedbugs -the house is not falling apart. things work, including plumbing. -art therapy is an integral part of the LEA approach. my daughter regularly participated in this. -the quality of the academics is quite good and involves a great deal of individual attention. When we met with the LEA staff prior to my daughter going there they set an expectation about a length of stay. She graduated within the range of time we discussed. My daughter is doing well today. LEA was the right place for her at the right time. I personally have made multiple visits to the school and can vouch for the facility and staff. My daughter found herself not only at a treatment facility, but also a home. After eleven months I consider us to not only have made friends with staff and other parents, but to have become part of the LEA family.
La Europa is a good place for a teenager who is WILLING to work through her issues. It's obviously strict because it's a RTC, it's kind of like prison, but compared to other treatment places, LEA is wonderful, in my opinion. We got to go off campus if we were doing well emotionally, which is motivation to get well. The part I disliked was the academics. They are absolutely terrible. If your daughter went from failing out of school to straight A's a La Europa it's only because the academics are a joke. The teachers don't teach, they sit at their desks on their computers and give you a book and say "learn". I was responsible for teaching myself everything while I was there. And when I didn't understand and failed a test, they dropped the grade and gave me As in every class. I HATED the academics. I dreaded going to school everyday. Other than school, the therapy is INTENSE. but helpful. Group therapy was good. My relationships with other girls there was very strong. We were like sisters. We did everything together, we were there for each other and I miss my girls dearly. If you are at LEA, you've got to be willing to work in order to get better.
La Europa has a very good education program. The terapy is good. However, the administration of the place is unorganized.
La Europa presents as a port during a terrific storm. The school staff was instrumental in re-engaging our daughter in the classroom. The residential staff is caring and tried hard to meet our daughters needs, emotionally and physically. (she requires a lot of physical activity throughout the day!) The communication between the school and this family was sufficient. Most of all, the therapist was most effective in helping our daughter identify her emotional needs.
Our daughter spent 8+ months at La Europa. We are very pleased with the results. Our daughter left in a much much better place than when she entered. The program is very good. The counseling is very good. The education is very good. As a father sensitive to what you are dealing with, as I've been there, I represent to you our experience was good. We are happy with our choice of Ka Europa.
HIghly recommended. My daughter just graduated both the high school and the therapeutic program at LEA. She was there just over one year. Before she was admited, she wasnt going to her high school classes and she isolated herself. She had a whole host of other issues. Now she is confident in herself. She has been admitted to college for the fall and we are extremely optimistic about her future. The residential, academic and therapeutic elements of this program have all been great.
Having a unique view on this program (an insiders), I would not, in good conscience, place a child of mine into the care of this facility. Although it can help, for the cost, there are many other options out there where the overall results would be far better. The residential home on the property is in disrepair (plumbing, mold, bedbugs etc. etc.) and the low level of supervision of the teens allows for too much high risk behavior to occur. Again, the program does help, but for the cost I wuld look elsewhere.
This is not a good school for your troubled teenaged girl. The academics are substandard. The school promised art classes, exercise classes, special study classes for my ADD daughter, none of which happened. They did not return phone calls. They treat the girls like prisoners. The staff is extremely focused on religion, although they state they are non-denominational. The food is unhealthy and consists mostly of frozen dinners and pasta. Not what you would expect for the cost of the school. There are many other and far better schools out there.
Great staff; amazing program. Saved our family and our daughter. The design of the program from a theraputic and educational stand point gels so well together there.
i graduated from la europa about 9 months ago. i was there for just over a year. i really was not happy when i first arrived and was not open to change what so ever. after great stugels there and attepts to continue my un-healthy behavior, la europa started working for me. they gave me time to decide to work, and never made me change. this is importent because, a person will not change unless they are willing to. when i made the decition to change, they were there to help me, encourage me, and advise me. they really saved my life.
My daughter just graduated from La Europa Academy in June, 2010. She was there for ten and half months. She went from failing out of school to a straight A student. She now has a plan for the future which includes college and a much more responsible and respectful attitude towards people and life itself. I cannot recommend this school and it's staff highly enough! It was the hardest and best decision I ever made!
