This school is one that has such a diverse learning community. Many students come to this school not knowing much English. The teachers spend countless hours before and after school preparing curriculum for their diverse learners. They have a caring attitude towards each child. The ESL program at this school is very impressive. With over half of the school needing ESL classes they reach the needs in a very impressive manner. There is an after school program at this school which benefits many students. The Kindergarten program is excellent with very dedicated teachers.
I have not been impressed with this school or its staff! I have had three of my children in this school, due to where I live this is my area school. When there are problems it is very difficult to work with the principal and teachers to come to any kind of resolution. They say very disparaging things about your children in meeting, when the child is sitting right there! There is a huge bullying problem at this school in the upper grades. When you bring this to the attention of the staff, little to nothing is done and you end up having to go to the district for results! There are obvious favorite students, and then ones they don't like they single out! I would recommend finding an alternate school for your child if you have an older student (4-6th grade) you will regret it if you don't!
It is a great school that assists in providing education and belief to many students whose parents generally are not well educated, move often and have lower incomes. The school emphasizes that all people have opportunities and can achieve if they are willing to work and to care.
