I was not at all impressed with this school. If you are a working parent you can forget about seeing your kids perform in talent shows and Christmas program. You will also miss science fairs and art shows. They do all of their activities during the day. I would also look at their reading program if you are considering this school. In one article that I read it states that this program turns the kids into robots. A Quote from this article it is so flagrantly dangerous, damaging and destructive I am appalled at its existence. You can also expect a new fund raiser about every month. If your kids forget to ware the right clothes they will not be participating in some activities. It seems like they have forgotten what s important in education.

A terrible waste of money! This school is one of the worst we have ever experienced. The teaching methods are so out of date and rigid. Each child is expected to work in a box, study on their own (5 yr olds), with no one-on-one guidance and assessment. Teacher turnover is terrible. Self-explanatory, if you have dealt with Dr. Reid. She doesn't listen to parents and frowns on any parent involvement in the classroom. The teacher's are not allowed to provide CPR in emergencies. The building is out of date and bathrooms always smell. As for an education, our daughter was a year behind after leaving this school. Thank goodness her new school has been able to catch her up. They don't promote a healthy learning environment. I wouldn't dream of sending my child to this school again.

Dr. Reid is very rigid and frowns upon any parent involvement in the classroom. The curriculum is rigid and archaic. There is insufficient assessment and notification of a student s progress throughout the school year. Parents are responsible for all field trip transportation as the school refuses to take on any liability. There are many bullies, but since money talks, the school is unwilling to do anything about them. This school is more worried about monetary parent donations, a child having a belt on and a shirt tucked in correctly, than they are about fostering a positive, energetic and safe academic environment.

The school is geared to giving a strong foundation in reading and writing skills, but also an enriched curriculum of math, hands-on science, and social studies. There is a lot of repetition and memorization in their learning process, but the Reid School faculty has been willing to give whatever it take to help the child succeed including one on one help and explanation both during and after school.

Rigid indeed! Bland sit-recite-write approach may help some, but lack individuality and conflict with nearly all research & age-developmental findings. Teachers aren't asked to do things, they are told. Strict schedules forbid expansion on topics kids are excited about. Parental and teacher input is disregarded. Red flags: -parents are discouraged from classroom visits -'fun' activities? handwriting contest, hours of Shakespeare rehearsals; minimal play/P.E. equip. -students told what & how to do things leaves little room for ingenuity Great teacher-parent repoire.

A very rigid school. Dr. Reid's notion of education is that all kids learn the same way. It's a one-size-fits all concept of education that goes against the grain of most all research. Dr. Reid is not friendly or accessible to parents in general.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
