Deseret Academy (hereafter DA) was a 'dream come true' for our son after the experiences he had in public schools. At DA they built on his abilities and did not get hung up on his weaknesses. The kids were not threatened by his intelligence, so he did not get teased nearly as much. Unfortunately, despite the good luck we had with teachers and our son's education there, we're leaving DA because of its leadership. Because of leadership, teacher turnover is probably higher than any other school around. We're sad, but just like so many other parents and teachers we've talked to, we simply cannot make it work at DA. We're going to try Liahona.

I went to Deseret Academy and although the atmosphere was good, I found that the administrator favored the rich children over the poorer children especially when it involved the honor code. I found the academics to be less that satisfactory, and the constant revolment of teachers made learning harder, because of the fact everytime a new teacher would arive, we would have to start at the beginging.

Deseret Academy provides an ideal environment for our kids. The school provides a nice combination of Christian principles with academic excellence and classes such as music and art which provide for a well-rounded education. We have three children who have attended Deseret and all of them like the warm, supportive environment. Two of our children had attended another private school and often heard anti-LDS comments from the students in their class. At Deseret all of the students are supportive of their religeous affiliation. However, while the school is LDS-based, it covers all of the acedemic subject as well. The school test scores are very good, but did not feel like they were being pushed too hard.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
