Last year was amazing for us at Westbrook! We transfered from a highly praised charter school to Westbrook. They took my kids, who are very bright, but a grade level behind, and caught them back on track! The teachers did a marvelous job at keeping in communication with us! My only complaint is the parking lot. Despite a recent renovation pick up and drop offs are scary...

We have had 2 students attend Westbrook. Our third grade student has had kids cut his clothing, ruin his belongings, etc. When we wrote to his teacher about this issue, we never got a response. We have tried writing to her multiple times. This same teacher has been so unorganized with what she sends home for homework, that the students don't know what to do. She's sent home a packet that doesn't even have all the pages attached. She's made numerous mistakes with her grammar and spelling. She even taught the whole class one of their spelling words wrong. My son says she makes mistakes on a daily basis and he finds himself correcting her. We have heard her saying she misspelled 5 letter word wrong, and she hadn't spelled it wrong. She is very hard to understand as well. When we approached the principle about our concerns, she was very rude to say the least. The parking is unorganized, the staff in the office has been rude to me and my children, and the teachers' own skills are not up to satisfaction-- at least the teachers that our children have had. We don't recommend this elementary school.

My child spent kindergarten at Westbrook Elementary. The classroom was chaotic and unstructured. The teacher did not have control of the class and often yelled or lost her patience with them. There were so many students with so many different needs, ranging from Autism spectrum disorder to health issues to being unprepared to be in school, that the teacher could not focus on teaching and preparing those students who were prepared and ready to learn. A bully situation came up near the end of the year, and school administration failed to even address the perpetrators. My child was threatened to be beaten up, and the school psychologist simply said, "Kids will be kids; they don't know they're being mean when they say things like that." I beg to differ. We have left that school, gladly, and would not recommend it to anyone.
