Academic focus and philosophy

Educational philosophy and approach to learning The advantage of being a small school: our teachers know every student individually. Such attention to the spiritual, academic, and social well being of each child creates an environment where children discover their inherent gifts and gain confidence in themselves. Parents and teachers together foster the loving yet challenging environment for our children to grow in faith, knowledge, wisdom, and compassion. This is the SFX difference: forming a foundation for their lifetime.

Parent involvement details A strong partnership between parents, guardians, and faculty is key to our students success. E-blasts, newsletters, social media, phone calls, parent-teacher conferences, community social events demonstrate the dedication we all have in our children's education. Parents are welcome to assist with fund-raising and service work as outreach to our surrounding neighbors. Our doors are open for conversation and listening.
Approach to addressing and preventing bullying For over 150 years, Catholic education has formed communities of learning based on compassion for others. Saint Francis Xavier teaches each child to "be safe, be respectful, be responsible, and be reverent." We offer cross-curricular lessons imbedded with moral principles that consistently reinforce love of God, love of others, and love of self. Communication between parents and school is critical to our success. Events like red-ribbon week, bully awareness and cyber safety night are offered.
