Hi. I"m not in VT, but I also have a child with some special needs. Greatschools is a nationwide forum, and the chance of finding another person from the same town with a child of similar age is slim. I always recommend that people contact a local support group for whatever condition their child has (ie, www.chadd.org for ADHD, www.interdys.org for reading problems and dyslexia, www.autismspeaks.org for spectrum disorders, etc.) and network through those families to find out about the best schools and other resources in the area.

Hi! I live in adjacent community of Essex. My son is now 17 y.o.. We moved to Essex BECAUSE of the great school system. I have been extremely pleased with the staff and admin. in Essex Town, at the elementary level. My son has been on an IEP since he was 3 y.o.. I think Williston is very supportive as well. I have not been pleased with the high school which is within another school district (CCSU). In fairness, another friend with same age son and very different needs has been happier at the high school. I think so much is dependent on the situation.
