While there's no such thing as a perfect school, East Montpelier has long put a high value on a great education. The teachers are excellent, hard working, involved folks, and the administration, which has had it's share of turmoil and turnover in the past, is on a solid course today. When I tell folks where I live, one of the very first things they reply with is that we have great schools here, and it's true. I'm very proud to be part of this school and community.
This school has had plenty of problems, we have gone through seven principals in six years. We have an assistant principal as well as a principal, why? Communication is a huge problem, overall education is adequate, but could use some improvement. Not a huge selection in teachers, considering you typically only have two to choose from.
I can't say enough good things about this school. It was the best decision we ever made to move to East Montpelier so our daughter could attend EMES. It's a community-centered education with excellent teaching staff and many parent and community volunteers.
