My son is in his 2nd year of Professional Foods and it has been an incredible experience for him. He is going to the top Culinary School in the Country next year and also has gained the skills and experience to participate in SKILLS USA. CTE is awesome!
My daughter goes to this school. It is very crowded. It is hard to get into the required classes. They are having to take the AP teachers and have them teach the intro classes just so students can take their required classes. They then put a minimum on AP classes of 15. Last sememster one AP class had only 13 signed up and they cancelled it. Those kids had, since 9th grade, planned their entire HS career around getting all the requisites to be able to take AP their final year. Sometimes doubling up on math and science. Only to find that, because of a lack of 2 students, their class was cancelled. The excellence in this school has gone downhill. Study halls are held anywhere they can find space - the classes are crowded and the teachers can't get to know the students. Too bad - not personalized anymore.
