NAHA is not for those who want to excel in academics or for sensitive individuals. The staff has a very informal attitude towards awarding grades to students, which has lead to ridiculous grade inflation. The staff is also prone to picking on individuals relentlessly by pointing out their athletic and personality 'flaws'. If your child is extremely confident and will be one of the best players at the academy, they will have no problems having a good relationship with the staff, having a good time, and finding a great school. If your child fits any other mold, I highly suggest looking else where for their academic and athletic development.

In terms of hockey, excellent. In terms of discipline in academics, the north american hockey acadmey is lacking. My daughter had a lovely time in her 2 years at NAHA and met many life-long friends. Though I would have liked to have seen my daughter challenged academically, so that the transition from high school to college-level work would have been easier for her. Overall, NAHA offers an exceptional program for aspiring college/olympic athletes.

Our daughter was recruited by many programs, but we chose NAHA and are very happy. 1-1 teacher student ratio allows every student to excel at their own pace, whether is it Gifted or learning disabled. The courses offered have no limit and the school does everything in its power to accommodate the individual academic program and courses for each girl. Currently there are 40 students in the program with 40 different academic programs. I know of no other program that offers such specialized and individualized academics. The program held their first Honors Society induction in the 2005-06 school year. NAHA currently offers both full time academics and Winter season academics. The school is located in the small picturesque community in Stowe, VT. Currently they have 100% college placement at both the DI and DIII

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
