This is one of the worst schools in the State. There is no leadership. I don't feel my children are safe in this school because of total lack of discipline.

Both of my girls went through the Windsor High School system and they finished in the top 10 of their classes. Very civic minded school, emphasising scholastics, community envolvement & volunteerism. The teachers were motivated & award winning! I couldn't have asked for more!

Windsor High School has many fine qualities at heart, but their unwinllingness to commit to hard decisions and actions greatly hinders it's ability to further it's success. The school's leaders would much rather talk about the ball game Windsor just won than about the its exigent drug usage problems. Windsor does not address issues by trying to remedy their core causes. Instead Windsor spends a lot of time--and even money in some cases--trying to wipe away symptoms of a problem. Windsor's teachers are great; there is no denying that. However, underlying maladies often overshadow the teachers' impressive abilities. Change in the administration's lower levels has left the school in an even sadder state of affairs. With stories about cafateria ladies and so forth, Windsor's pick for principal has not brought the school where it wanted to go. With an atmosphere comparible to prison, Windsor can have a mediocre rating at best.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Vermont used the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in reading and math, grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing and grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The NECAP reading, math, and writing tests are given in the fall and test students on content taught in the previous year. The science portion of the NECAP is administered in the spring each year. The NECAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Vermont. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level on the test.
