Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

T.C. offer great courses, looks great on college applications and is diverse. As parents, we are very happy that our children have attended this beloved institution and highly recommend it to other families. The school and the community combine to provide the students with a world-class education and a very supportive culture. Math and Science are very strong at the school as well.

If you do not know T.C. Williams personally, please do not be misled by the relatively low score that GreatSchools.com s methodology assigns to the school. T.C. serves a large number of high-achieving students who perform as well as any of their Northern Virginia peers. In addition, the school s large student population includes some disadvantaged students as well as a sizable segment of non-native-English speakers who often underperform on the standardized measurements used in GS s methodology. T.C. is the only high school in the City of Alexandria, and the administration provides amazing resources and employs top quality faculty. They tailor their approach to maximizing the potential of all students. Do not be misled. T.C. Williams is indeed a great school.

T.C. provides world-class opportunties and resources to the hundreds of young adults who graduate from the school every year and matriculate into top universities thruought the U.S., and the world. Our children thrive at T.C. and we are thankful that we have such a solid institution in our city. Great School. I have to say that I question this website's methodology if it does not give T.C. one of the best ratings available.

TC is a very competitive school within a great school district. Many students enroll in challenging AP, honors, or accelerated courses. Many options are available for classes including many languages and upper level math and sciences. The teachers, for the most part, are well qualified and dedicated to teaching their subjects. A large number of students continue on to four year colleges, many of which are well-know universities. Extra-curricular activities as well as academic and service clubs are often stressed. Athletics tend to be good, but they of course vary from year to year. TC s arts department is very established with a various musical opportunities, a large theater. Overall a fantastic school, among the best in VA.

As a parent, I can say that T.C. Williams is without a doubt a high caliber high school with talented educators, successfull students, and top notch facilities. The ranking that "Great Schools" gives this school does not reflect the quality of the institution in any meaningful way. I believe this website's rating methodology is profoundly flawed.

T.C. and excellent coincide. While not a flawless learning environment, the school provides a challenging and spirited atmosphere which I find highly conducive toward learning. The teachers and administrative staff are helpful and most care genuinely for the students. Our family and the community of Alexandria demand top quality science and math education. T.C. offers outstanding and nationally recognized faculty and resources in these subjects as well as other subjects.

This school had one of the best facilities in the area. They loan every kid a laptop and provide transportation for kids to get home if they stay after school. We moved here from out of state and they were exceptional in making sure my child stayed on track being that the school she transferred from was horrible. We been to a few schools and this one has been the best . I just can't explain how they do a lot here for your child it's up to them yo reach out and grab hold. My daughter is on honors and AP classes by the way. Also they have so many programs for the kids and activities. I really like this school of all the places we have been.

T. C. Williams offers a wonderful and vibrant learning community; is academically competitive and employs a very supportive staff. The school has a large body of engaged and diverse college-bound kids. Our child is a happy kid who loves going to school every day. The administration has made some excellent choices on hiring and retaining top teachers.

T.C. Williams is an excellent school. T.C. William's best asset is its variety of students. You cannot find this combination of socioeconomic and ethnically diversity anywhere (especially college). What I have gained in this school is the ability to be curious and learn about different cultures. I can honestly say I have learned more from talking to the students who come from 80 countries than the school's curriculum(the faculty is also amazing but nothing beats hearing students experiences). Understanding the copious worlds which these students come from is a rarity and I am very blessed that T.C. has given me this opportunity.

I am a freshman at a top college and am better prepared than my peers. T.C. Was a great, fun four years for me, and I was pushed academically to accomplish things I would not have thought possible. My parents paid a housing premium so that I could attend T.C. In my opinion, this was certainly a worthwhile investment in my education.

Excellent!! My daughter was an exchange student last year; she loved her Teachers for their commitment to teaching, her school atmosphere which was multicultural, and she brought besides her excllent grades beautiful experiences back home. She would love to go back there to do her Senior year and for all these reasons I highly recommend this school..

Some in the community think of T.C. Williams as it was ten years ago under weak school leadership and a disfunctional school board. TC 2013 has been explicitly transformed. We feel our two children get a world class eduction and they both do very well. The administration, the teachers, the parents and the community are all gifted and the students do very well as a result.

Our daughter graduates this year from T.C. and was admitted to UVA, William and Mary, Virginia Tech and other national schools as well. We are so happy we decided to send our children to TC because the academic resources and opportunities given to our children have been truly world class.

T.C. is an impressive school on many levels. We find the teachers (without exception) to be sharp, positive and energetic. Our children thrive there and are challenged in a college-prep environment. The resources offered to students far exceed our expectations and the Alexandria City community supports the school with a spirit not often seen in other communities in which we have lived.

T.C. is well-funded and has terrific modern facilities. The educators, whom we have seen teach and guide our children, are highly-skilled and achieve amazing results. The school seems appropriately focused on preparing our kids for admission into a selective university and on giving them the skills they will need to succeed in life.

The teachers, for the most part, are fantastic (Mr. Rankin, Mr. Keener, Ms. Freitag, Mr. Eaton, Mr. Kokonis, to name a few). They are willing to spend as much time before and/or after school as necessary to help students succeed. However, as in any school, there are issues. The school, while a beautiful facility, has become almost a police state; students have to sign in to use the bathroom, and a person who is one minute late receives detention. This has been in response to the lack of motivation among the student body; many students don't even show up to class, and yet the school gets blamed for all lack of achievement. Despite the wonderful teachers, I worry about what the school will be like in several years. I wonder if many high achieving students will eventually transfer to private or parochial schools so that they don't have to deal with unmotivated classmates, many of whom take AP classes.

This school is terrible. The students run all over lot of teachers because the teachers want to be liked. So many students don't want to learn and very unmotivated. They want to do nothing. the administration does not enforce the rules effectively.

Speaking as a former graduate ('06) I was not exactly left with a good impression of High School. The Academic Programs are supurb--How many kids can say they had AP Physics taught by a Fulbright Scholar. The quality of the teachers was amazing, very well qualified teachers, but many students brought down the quality of the teachers, by misbehavior. The School also has some of a Discipline problems, fights are a commonality there, usually resulting in a police officer having to step in. And then the Laptop program, has done nothing, in my opinion, to benefit the students, even hurt them. Seldom, were the laptops used for their purpose. Overall, I think when I left, the school had alot it could improve on. On a lighter note, when the new building is completed ,I think the school quality will improve, and even out the very one sided demographic of the school.

I am a former student of T.C. Williams (class of 02). T.C. Williams High School is a very good school. The academic programs are challenging and rewarding. I had moved from Utah and was very impressed with the variety of classes to choose from, ranging in several different intellectual levels. I counted 73 after school clubs to choose from when I first enrolled in 99, and that number is growing. These clubs are in addition to the standard varsity and junior varsity sports teams. Recently, T.C. has made an effort to bring all students, even lower income students, up to date in technology by instituting a laptop initiative program, where each student is issued their own notebook computer as well as access to wireless internet campus-wide. Though the level of parental involvement seemed small, I felt much support and motivation from my teachers.

I'm a 2006 grad and i think T.C. Williams is a very good school. I moved to Alexandria from a very high scoring VA district and was a little skeptical. I was surprised to see the quality of teachers and how much the guidance dept helped with college/career selection. This school challenged me more than my high-scoring school did. TC may not have the highest sol scores or the best-behaved students but the diversity of students and level of opportunity with their career dept makes this high school stand out in NoVA. It even has its own scholarship program and a personal laptop initative. If you live in alex. city and are sending your kid to private school you are missing out. My only problem with alex city schools is the excessive school year length.

T.C. Williams is one of the best high schools in the Northern VA area. The leadership team was outstanding as I always felt very well guided and safe. The teachers challenged students and created an evironment very conducive to learning. But not only that, they were extremely caring and insighful. I continued on to the University of VA and excelled there due to the strong academic foundation that T.C. Williams created for me.
