My child does not attend Creightons Corner Elementary, but I wish she did. We had the opportunity to attend a play at a local high school along with several other schools, including Creightons Corner. I was amazed a how thoughtful their children were and how positively the teachers interacted with the students. The principal was amazing! He commanded the room and the children were very responsive to his direction. I have always heard good things about this school, but today I saw it firsthand.

Transition to CCE from a Montessori school has been phenomenal! The teachers are great & the parents' passion & involvement is impressive. The level of education my daughter is receiving doesn't seem to be any less than that she received at Montessori. It is a great community.

Creightons is the third public school we've attended in Ashburn and it is by far the best. My children's classes are at capacity, but the level of communication from both school and teacher is significantly better than the other schools we attended. The administration is very visible and school sponsored events are heavily attended by parents and staff.

In response to a previous poster, Creighton's Corner does an outstanding grade by grade in assessing students skill sets. We now have a 3rd Grader and Kindergartner and I'm so impressed with the assessment process and even more so by the small groups created to make sure no child slips through the cracks. Teacher involvement is high at the school as is parents involvement, hard to understand how a child could not succeed in this nurturing environment. We are very happy to have our children at Creighton's!

We LOVE CCE! The leadership is fabulous - what a great environment since the new principal has been there!! The teachers are warm and friendly, the principal is involved and dedicated to the students and teachers. Parents are happy to volunteer and enjoy being involved in the school and its activities!! Cannot say enough good things about the entire staff at the school, from the principal, to the teachers, to the custodial staff!!

I have been working at CC for years and would never want to work anyplace else! There is an amazing and supportive team of administrators, teachers, and specialists who work to help each & every child succeed. It's an environment filled with kind & caring students who have supportive and helpful parents. CC is truly my "second home"!!!

We were a Creighton Corner family for many years. In fact, my daughter was a "plank holder". However when my son struggled in both K and first grade, the teachers did very little to help him. Meeting after meeting I was told to have him memorize sight words. During winter break of his first grade year, we relocated. At Winter break, his reading level was tested at a 3.(low) At the end of the school year at his new public school, he tested at an 18 and he is much more successful. At Creighton, classes are overcrowded, quiet kids with small learning challenges are easily overlooked. Thank God we left.

Creighton has now come full circle from several years ago. It is now a "community" with everyone working together towards education in a positive warm/nurturing environment. We moved to Loudon from Fairfax several years ago and have been more than thrilled with how the county makes smart/common sense decisions - Fairfax needs a real overhaul with the processes that they have in place.

My family is relocating from out of state and on a suggestion of a local professional, we stopped by the school to visit, only giving them less than an hour's notice-during SOLs no less. We were just taken back by how nice and friendly everyone was! We were greeted by the parent liaison who gave us a tour of the school. All of the kids were well behaved and looked happy to be there. Afterwards, the AP, P and Administrative intern sat down with us to learn a little bit about my children and talk about the school philosophies. They seemed so genuine and concerned about my children. Both of my kids have IEPs. Before we walked in the door, I worried that we could be disregarded - it was the complete opposite! I truly believe the culture of a school is governed by the attitudes of the administrators, and I could tell the moment we walked in the front office and were warmly greeted by office staff, that this is a gem of a school! Even as we walked the halls with the parent liaison, a resource room teacher saw us in the hallway, introduced herself, and gave us her business card and contact information. You can tell these teachers love coming to work everyday. Blown away!

We have been here for two years now. After dabbling in private schools and having a very poor experience there , I can easily say every morning I feel blessed having a safe environment and happy place for my kids. I am so so so grateful for being part of this school. The teachers are so nice and so is the principal and vice principal. I think the children are getting good education and wholesome growth. Nothing more a parent can ask for. It is one of the rare times I can say I am 100% satisfied. There are constant updates about the children's progress and the teachers are accessible at all times. They even respond on weekends and evenings.

CCE is the best so far i have seen. My kids went to 5 different elementary schools(between 2 of them) due to job situation and finally we ended up in CCE. I can say this is the best considering teacher quality, extra curricular activities. Principal is very involved and keeps kids and parents informed with what is going on continuously(You get an announcement call at least once or twice a week).

Creighton's Corner Elementary is a wonderful place to work. Teachers, students, and staff work together to make CCE great. The PTA is one of the hardest working groups of people that a school could have to work for them They have researched resources to help up raise money and obtain resources we need. There are many parent volunteers who help wherever there is a need and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. CCE is a great place to work.

We recently moved to the area and I had my reservations about Creighton's Corner based on the reviews I found online, but I have been very impressed with what I have seen. We have a 1st grader at the school and we couldn't be happier with her teacher, as well as the school staff. I haven't had a chance to meet the principal personally, but he is very visible whenever I've been on school grounds. Communication has been fantastic and it feels like parents are very much invested in their children's education.

great school! Teachers my child had so far are very organized and enthusiastic. There are internationally dynamic students (a lot of West Asian) which is good for children, I think. Parents involvement seems good also.

All I can say is WOW!, WOW!, WOW! Our school has come so far in only one year of new leadership. Parents are visiting and volunteering, our PTA is more active than ever, and our teachers are just fantastic. Everyone is extremely positive and our school has such a wonderful spirit. We are looking forward to a great year!

We moved to Ashburn from Fairfax County and heard mixed reviews on this school based on the previous administration. I couldn't be more pleased with my daughter's first grade experience. Mr. Knott is the new principal and is exceptional. The curriculum was challenging and I really saw my daughter grow this year. My only concern, and it isn't the school's fault, was the classroom size. But that's pretty typical for Loudoun County as they can't seem to keep up with the growth. Be assured if your child attends this school next fall that he/she will be getting an incredible educational experience.

I believe there are lots of great teachers at this school unlike the last poster's comment about lazy teachers. Teaching is hard work. If anything, it is the efforts of select teachers that go above and beyond what is required that creates a perception that others may be lazy. Of course you will always have at least a few under performers anywhere you go. By definition, you can't have above average teachers without below average teachers. We've been here at CCE for 3 years and all 6 teachers have been great and this has been by far the best year so far!!! New administration is great!! We love this school!!

The new administrator is wonderful! Believes in actually educating the kids and having transparency unlike the last administrator. There are a handful of great teachers but the rest need to stop being so lazy. The PTA did a great job this year. All events are well advertised and attended. Events are fun especially International Night, very inclusive of everyone. The school finally feels like a community , unlike in previous years. That was due to the crazy administrator. GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT CCE!! THIS IS A SCHOOL TO WATCH.

I feel the changes that have happened this year have been awesome! I have to question the previous comment that stated that the new principal was nice, but didn't do much. I do wonder how much interaction this person has had with him. He is truly wonderful, and it is clear the KIDS are #1, not staff, and not administration. He's not afraid to go to bat for what he feels is best for the students at CCE, because not all students/schools can fit into this mold. There are lots of moving and interchanging parts. He is approachable, compassionate, and empathetic. He is empowering teachers to go above, do more, and he expects a team atmosphere. We are all on the same team, parents and staff - we all want they very best for our students, and for their learning experience to be fun and positive. He certainly fosters this at CCE. The classrooms are filled to max but the teachers have handled this the best they can. Kuddos to the staff, adminsitration, and parents for all working together this year to make CCE great!

I've been here for four years. It's just ok for me. Principal is nice, but he doesn't really do much. It's mostly a parent run school, some parents are good at that and some not so much. Teachers are generally good, and left alone to do what feels right to them. It ends up feeling a little disorganized since there doesn't seem to be an official person "in charge" - lots of things are last minute, etc. So - just ok.

Night and Day, that is how I would describe the difference between last year and this year. I don t think we would have kept our children enrolled if the Administration hadn t intervened. The new Principal has been a breath of fresh air. Walls have come down. Every time I walk in the school it feels more like a partnership, (i.e., teachers, parents, and staff), one big community, all working harmoniously for the common good of our precious children. Thank you to all the teachers at CCE this year. It has been an amazing first few weeks and my kids are excited for the rest of the school year! Go Colts!!!

I have been a teacher at this school for two years and I love it. The school is diverse and there are lots of fun activities for students to engage in. I especially enjoy the yearly Veteran's Day assembly. Our principal, music teachers, and other staff do a beautiful job with this event every year. Creighton's Corner is a great school with caring staff and a very supportive administration. The principal manages the second largest elementary school in the county and she does an outstanding job. I feel lucky to work here and can only imagine how privileged I would be to send my own children to this school. If you have any doubts, check the lines that form at 4am full of parents wanting to enroll their children in this school.

This is a FANTASTIC school!! We've been here since the school first opened. The teachers are energetic and everyone from the front offices to the cafeteria is so dedicated to making the school a great place for our kids to learn. My son needed extra attention due to food allergies and I always felt he was safe there and that he was well looked after.

There is no doubt that this is one of the BEST schools around. The parents, teachers and administration are all interested in what is best for children. The teachers are fantastic, motivated, energetic and seem very happy to be at this school. I have found all of the teachers and admin to be very easy to contact, and are very supportive of families/children that have extra needs. My children have been here since the school opened and it has not lost the caring and academically challenging environment that was established the very first year. We love CCE!!!

I love working here! I love my students, and I couldn't ask for a better group of parents than the ones I have this year. As for working in a "hostile environment" as one parent reviewer wrote, I don't feel that is the case at all. Our principal supports us as teachers and allows me the freedom to teach as I see fit. She trusts me as an educator to make good decisions for my class and my team. I love the diversity offered in this community and feel I have built solid and lasting relationships with my students in my class and the girls that I get to work with in Girls on the Run. I work with a team of dedicated teachers who want only the best for their students both academically and socially.

The school just issued an apology to our PTA officers. I suppose this is a step in the right direction. I still have concerns specific to how situations with my children have been handled and I don t know how my trust in this school s leadership can be restored.

I am not surprised by the negative comments posted below. The school leadership has been unresponsive to many of my concerns. My biggest bone to pick is that my child was recently in the principal's office due to some inappropriateness in the classroom. No, my child was not in trouble, rather a victim. My child came home confused and wondering if they were in trouble. I was never contacted by the school; no letter, no phone call. Nothing!

We've been fairly happy with the teachers but I am not surprised by many of the comments below. Being an active parent in the classroom I have sensed the frustration my children's teachers have with school leadership. Why can't my child's teacher make a simple decision on an email to parents vs getting it approved by the principal. Our school needs a leader, not a micromanager.

I agree with most of the comments that have already been posted here concerning the unresponsiveness and adversarial atmosphere that exists at CCES. I am even more concerned with the absolute silence coming from the LCPS administration. Many parents have logged complaints and provided documentation about the myriad issues existing at the school, but there has been nary a peep coming from the LCPS administration. This is extremely disconcerting as I am sure that this is not how top school administrations like Fairfax or Montgomery behave. As parents who live in this county, it is our tax dollars that are responsible for the funding of the school, yet we have been given short shrift by the LCPS administration in terms of the valid issues that have been raised about the administration of this school. In talking to other parents, we are of agreement that we do not wish to conduct a witch hunt or try to have people fired, but we are extremely frustrated and exasperated with the lack of accountability that both the CCES administration and LCPS administration think they should have. As parents and tax payers of this school and county, we deserve much more than we are currently getting.

This is our first year in the Virginia school and is OK. The schools is much different than back home because the classes is hard and with English too. My kids teachers is nice people. So what? The principal don't like the computer read programs. The teachers is very busy making good lesson for kids and the computer books is for kids with good readers. I say the schools is with to many computers for the good teaching and they a doing the typing and no good with write a paper. You have very much money and should buy books to you kids.

I too need to rate this school a one star based on the administration of the school. The control and micromanagement at the top is unbearable. I am so nervous about retribution toward my child(ren) by one particular person that this anonymous forum is where I am comfortable fielding my complaints. This is not the way any parent should feel.

February 22, 2012
The teachers in the school are great and love to teach. However, the administrative is a little to controling and has a micromanagement type of approach. They seem to overstep their authority when it comes to working with the PTA. They are very resistant to introducing new or old programs that the administration of the school is not interested in but are requested by the parents. I give it a one star based on the administration of the school.

Why does the PTA do a survey and not ask the question as to what is wrong with this school? Is it b/c they too are afraid of the #1 answer that it is the administration? The prinicple needs to be removed from her job b/c she doesn't do anything to enhance our children's education. She is more interested in the beautifican of the school vs. education. Look at schools around the area and all the clubs, afterschool programs, community events other schools have and we don't. REMOVE THE PRINCIPLE LCPS _ STOP SLEEPING ON THE JOB!!

We moved from Leesburg to Ashburn in 2009. My daughter started her 4th grade in this school. The school was only 2 years at that time. My daughter previous school has the AR program for reading, which improved her reading skill a lot. I was so disappointed when I know CC doesn't have any program for reading. And I can see a big difference that my daughter didn't read as much as before, and she complained that the school doesn't have enough books for her to choose. I have to borrow books from public library for her. She is in 5th grade now, and there is only two and half weeks left for this semester. But so far, we haven t received any email noticing us about the conference meeting. And my daughter complained a lot about her teacher chatting with other staff and delay checking their work as well as keeping them inside the classroom for recess. Now I stated to worry about my son, he ll go to the same school in 1 year.

Creighton's Corner has grown considerably since its opening. The administration, teachers and staff have handled this growth admirably. I have found that the teachers are very committed to the children and work hard to make the school a wonderful learning environment. The PTA works hard to have events the children may enjoy. I have had nothing but good experiences at the school.

Not impressed, took my son out of this school and put him in private. The leadership didn't even contact me, didn't show any concern or try to find out why a child was taken out of her school. The move to another school transformed my son and he is now thriving. My child is no longer obsessed about what color he is that day, a red light, a blue light, a green light..seriously? Does negative reinforcement really work with children? How about inspiring them, captivating them and educating them? Too many kids in one class, not enough experience to handle.

The leadership at this school is not good. The atmosphere is cold and the parents' concerns voiced to the administration are dismissed and swept under the rug. I can't count the number of parents I know that have similar complaints. The teachers work very hard despite the administration.

We have had a positive experience with my children's teachers. However, the administration is not strong and does not have good leadership. It is very cold, unfriendly and you do not feel comfortable asking questions regarding grades, more challenging work or things that do not seem logical or practical. We came from an excellent school where my children felt like it was their second home, here they can't wait to leave at the end of the day.

Creighton's Corner has a top-notch principal with a great eye for talented teachers. I have a background in education and worked in the public school system for a number of years, so I'm familiar with how schools work (and don't). I couldn't be happier.

This is the first year the school is open and it is significantly under enrolled...but that will change next year with redistricting. It's a terrific school, extremely clean and safe, very pleasant staff. My daughter is very happy here...never mentions that she misses her old school.
