As a student who attends this school, I agree that there are some pros and cons to going here. What I like about this school are the teachers, friendly staff, etc. I believe that the teachers have given me a good education and are capable of giving me the knowledge I need for the outside world. However, the cons are that there really is some bullying that's left unacknowledged by the staff. The teachers/staff also fail to give the proper consequences to students who have started the bullying. So while I do like the school, I feel like there's a few things that should be fixed and given more attention to.
Liberty Middle School has provided both my children with an excellent opportunity to excel in both academics and athletics. The teachers and administrators have always been interested in doing what is in the best interest for my child, as well as the entire student population. I would reccommend those that want the facts on Liberty Middle School, either meet with the principle and get the comparison academic statistics, as well as the behavioural statistics-these facts will prove that we are above average in our academic arena, as well as way below in negative behaviour issues, compared to other similiar schools in the County-or choose to get involved on the various board opportunities that are available to parents that want to help make middle school a positive experience for their child. Middle School, anywhere, can be difficult due to the changes that our children are going through...only through coming together as a community, can we make it a better experience for the majority. As a parent of two children that attend Liberty, I have chosen to join with the administrators and teachers, in making middle school a positive experience for all students by being an active parent.
Liberty is one of the worst schools in the state of Virginia. It is overcrowded and full of bullying that goes unacknowledged by a majority of administrators and fails to be accurately punished by most faculty. The majority of teachers spend more time yelling at students than educating. Its educational standards are not up to par with where they should be to accurately prepare children to succeed in this world. It is an unhealthy environment.
Last summer in preparation for LMS as a 6th grader parent I found this site. I had two previous children at LMS many years ago, so I sent the third off on a trial basis for 9 weeks. This year has been amazing! The staff & teachers have been wonderful, one in particular has gone out of her way to phone me in the evenings to discuss work my child missed during a bout with swine flu. She still continues to call occasionally. I worried all summer for nothing -my child has thrived this year. I have had wonderful communication with all the teachers. In reply to the bullying & teasing mentioned. Sadly, this is part of the these years & it goes on at all middle schools. My child has not been a target nor involved in any of that. Liberty is a great school!
this school is wonderful, unlike most reviews that are posted here. the teachers take their time and are fair to every student. the teachers are wonderful and teach a very great education. i am a student and not just a parent, i actually go there. everyoneis very kind and helpful, and there are many great electives. this school is a great school, and you should send you child here, they will get a great education in a wonderful kind atmosphere
Terrible school. Teachers and Administration are clueless about educating the students...teach totally to SOL ...dumb down the subjects etc. After 4 years of wonderful Henrico County Schools moving here to Hanover is only darkened by the state of this school for my youngest child. I'm stunned by our first year experience here. Have to agree with the other two negative postings this is one of the worst schools I've ever had to send one of my children to.
I am concerned about the teachers at the Liberty Middle School. They often single out students and this behavior is reinforced at the administrative level. Unfortunately once a child is labeled by one teacher- they often do not get a fair chance by any other teacher in the school. Very disappointing atmosphere for students to learn how to grow - this is an area where they should be encouraging success and not trying to remove children from the classroom. Poor teacher ethics.
This school has been one of the best schools that my children could ever attend. We have moved into the area from living in Richmond and what a pleasant change. Classrooms have smaller numbers of students, more attention is given to each student and the environment is much safer. I highly recommend this school to anyone!
Liberty is the worse school that has ever been built! My child went through three very difficult years of teasing, bullying, and teachers turning their heads and the faculty doing nothing about keeping our children safe. The faculty need to pay more close attention to the safety and welfare of our children. It has come to the point where the teachers and the principal simply do not care! I would highly recommend you home schooling your child if you have no other school for your child to attend.
