John Battle High School is an amazing school. Actually the Washington Co VA School District is an amazing district. I have dealt with the county school system, the Bristol city VA schools and the Bristol TN city schools with being a mother of five children. All three systems have their good points, but John Battle High, Wallace Middle School and High Point Elementary School have impressed me throughout my children's education. John Battle's teachers and staff are happy to stay in contact with the parents and work through any issues with the child. I have been to them for many reasons whether totally educational, my child's problems with other student's (ie bullying, disagreements etc), problems at home, even help with things at home so my child had the resources at home to be more productive at school. They offer so many things other schools don't like their Community Scholarship program (which I could write so much about all the good aspects from allowing your child to participate in it) where the student does a small amount of community service each high school year, stays out of trouble and keeps decent grades and they have their start to their future right there for them. To me, that is an awesome opportunity that all schools should provide for the children, especially those that are not lucky enough to have the financial means to go straight off to a fancy college or those that work hard and want to learn but cannot pull off straight A's and get offered scholarships. They also have a wonderful selection of vocational studies. Amazing teachers that not only teach, but are willing to put extra time into the children and even money out of their own pockets to make sure the kids have what they need to be able to learn. I am an old-fashioned parent in many ways and a firm believer in teachers and schools being about the children and teaching them so they are prepared for the world ahead, and this school has been the closest I have had the pleasure of my children attending to the way things used to be when education and raising children right was a priority. I cannot give this school enough stars for the education and the guidance they have provided my children over the years. As we all know, no school will ever be perfect and there will always be one or two staff members to be the exception to the rule, but JBHS does put the effort into out kids.

This school has to be the worse school a child can go to. They have their picks in kids in this school. If you don't have money you nothing in this school but another piece of paper. I hope when my grandson is older that they will do away with a lot of teachers in this school if not he will attend another school even if I have to pay. I have seen how they treated my daughters friends that didn't have much so I would make sure that the child had nice stuff to where she wouldn't get talked about. Now that my daughter has graduated she has much respect for the less fortunate children. She gives to kids that have much and her friend in school that didn't have much are now best friends and make sure that these kids aren't put down.

One of the great things about JBSHS is the way staff and students accept each other and make the best of each day.

This school provides an excellent variety of academic classes. The guidance counselors do a great job at encouraging the students to choose the right classes. Many students earn scholatic and athletic scholarships. The band program is one of the best in the country. The band director provides opportunities to travel to and perform at beautiful and historic places such as Pearl Harbor. Parents are always made to feel welcome.

This is by far the best school in the area. Its diverse students fit in well with one another unlike the surronding schools. They offer many great programs and classes, the teachers are always wonderful.

this school is a good school for academic programs and it gives the student the many opportunities to select the type of classes they want to take that will help them to beable to find a good job when they finish and also gives them a chance to get scholarships.i attended this school and so did my oldest daughter and now my youngest daughter is going there.she is taking the nursing program and there are alot of great teachers and the principal is good to help when they need extra help in a class.i recommend this school for any parent who is looking for a good school.they have many music and art and other extracurricular activites. they also recommend the parents input and have them to always take part in the school .
