I do not recommend the Boyd School, I had a terrible experience. The Boyd School is not a true Montessori School. They are not AMI Certified and they don't truly follow the Montessori methods. I withdrew my child after 5 months due to the lack of teacher engagement and the poor quality of education my child was receiving. My child has been in Montessori for over three years, but regressed at the Boyd School. The facility is nice and the meals included in the price of tuition is a nice feature. However, the Teachers seem stressed and the Administration priority is the bottom-line. I witnessed conflict between the Teachers and Administration. My child had six different Teachers in a five month time span. The Teachers and the Administration are condescending and will not answer direct questions. The Boyd School is one highest priced pre-schools, therefore I expected a higher quality, but what I experienced was the exact opposite. The Teachers were cold and unhappy. That type of environment reflected onto the students. I moved my child to another Montessori school. My child is excelling in the other school and is happier than at the Boyd School.
The teachers are EXCEPTIONAL! My child has attended The Boyd School (Westfield) for several years. This could be a truly great school if the owners would support the staff and provide the funding to fix and upgrade the materials and support the teachers with the equipment and supplies that are needed to run the class rooms.
The administration of this school is ONLY concerned about $ and the bottom line. There is currently no director at the Westfields campus because the previous director wanted to do what was right for the children, and the administration wouldn't listen. Although some of the teachers are great, they aren't allowed to truly focus on the children because of the administrative fiascos. Just ask about the recent drop in enrollment and that will be a clue about what direction this school is headed. They also aren't AMI certified and don't truly follow a Montessori program so don't be fooled if that's what you are looking for.
My daughter has been at the Boyd school for three years now, and we absolutely love it. The teachers are dedicated and are really interested in bringing out the best in each student. The school also gives the students a lot of exposure to non-traditional forms of learning, like guest lecturers, field trips, etc. Also, love the large classrooms, and the variety of learning material, which truly make for a great learning experience. My daughter can t wait to get to school each morning, and I think that speaks volumes for the quality of education here.
Very good teachers. they work very close to each kids and my daughter loves it.
Good school, caring teachers and admistrators, and a fun community of children and parents!
