Excellent teachers which are the school leaders, and higher expectaions than most schools in the area. Students who attend this school do not know which students are disadvantaged because of their financial or other situation because the teachers have high expectations for ALL students. Challenging academics from K onward. Several students from the Floyd County school system go on to attend noteworthy colleges and universities.

As a parent of a child who has been at this school for the past 6 years i can say this school system is one of the reasons we are leaving the area. I have never seen such a lack of leadership since the principal left and was replaced in 2008. There are a few teachers that are truly there for the right reason but they are far out weighed by those just collecting a pay check. It is very sad. My son is a bright, brilliant child who has always excelled, but has begun to hate school. Please note that it had nothing to do with our economic status. I find the previous comment disgusting. This is alot of the problem, stereotyping in the school system does not belong. All the children deserve the same chance at a producitve education. There are some amazing kids at this school. I wish someone would see the harm that this system is creating.

As a teacher in another state, I would question how the 3rd grade math scores could be 100%. this is a rural area and we have some relatives who live in the area and know that they could not possibly attain this score. I have seen cheating on this type of test by the teachers and would strongly suspect that this is going on in this school. This is a rural school with many free and reduced lunch students, certainly not a middle class area.
